  1. And in the past 4,5 years - that's one Olympics and two WCh's - only eleven women were faster worldwide. It's really quite something
  2. Rare strong performance by a Dutch athlete in the 400m hurdles. Femke Bol ran 53,79 and broke the old (1998) Dutch record by nearly a second. She already ran 54,47 two weeks ago, but with only one opponent that wasn't recognized, today she had two opponents and that's the minimum requirement
  3. Pyeongchang Olympian and 2017 world junior champion (figure skating, pairs) Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya has died - apparently by her own hand - at the age of only 20. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ekaterina_Alexandrovskaya
  4. Haha, obviously Mercedes has been dominating this for a good while, but this is taking it to extreme levels even for them Mercedes by huge margins on the first two rows, Ferrari is best of the rest by more than a second
  5. As far as I know that's where he lives, yes, and I know he has been sort of a mentor for Van Kalmthout in his entire Road to Indy the past few years. They don't have that much inside IndyCar news: Dutch TV - well, the one channel that shows it - shows the races and since this season sometimes qualifying, and outside of that any news is about Van Kalmthout only. It's not like a quote of Pagenaud or Dixon or whatever is interesting for Dutch media
  6. Weird qualifying, I'm already loving it...both Williams drivers on to Q2 !
  7. Van Kalmthout makes the sports news since the first moment he signed in IndyCar Tonight the race starts half an hour earlier. The race isn't that long, so no problem to set an alarm again to watch live (especially considering during the day there's just no time to watch it ).
  8. Jack Miller crashed into the gravel, meaning 2020 is now really underway Pole for Quartararo, ahead of Viñales, Marquez and the surprisingly strong Bagnaia.
  9. Outsprinting a proven steroid doper on nothing but some bread with cheese
  10. Two weeks or so ago we got some stuff delivered from work, including a bottle of Corona extra, which ended up being the first time I actually drank a 'full' beer (as in, more than one or two sips to try) Not great, not terrible. You take that, I'll go for some wine
  11. Dump my olive in the trash where it belongs and then sure, I'll give it a try
  12. Apology accepted. What do you say, about time for a drink? It's past lunch time after all
  13. Judging this is so much easier than the regular contests, can't we always do this?
  14. Chase Elliott followed in the footsteps of his father Million Dollar Bill by winning the All-Star Race and the accompanying one million dollars during the week. Not as interesting as All-Star Races have been in the past this time on Bristol (instead of Charlotte).
  15. Impressive second win for Theo Pourchaire in the F3 today. Half a race and he annihilated the field. Simon Pagenaud won the first IndyCar race in Iowa during the night. He was helped by a caution that happened because of Colton Herta torpedoeing the back of Rinus van Kalmthout and then flying off into the fences - luckily not at very high speeds since it happened at an aborted restart. Apparently Herta wasn't told (at least not in time) the restart had been aborted, which was done late, and he had basically nowhere to go from then on. Too bad for the youngsters, right after they had perfect luck with a caution due to Will Power's wheel running off - most people had pitted under green, they could do it under yellow.
  16. It ain't gonna be Alex, by the looks of it. Gotta pull your hope from somewhere, so I'm gonna hope for the Yamahas (the Petronas ones especially). You never know.
  17. I can't believe the enthousiasm for the Winter Olympics already, more than one and a half year before the event. This stuff is on fire!
  18. He might not be as bad as Brundage, but it's not like De Coubertin was a person very...open to certain things. I believe for example he was a rather big fan of colonization and it being 'good' for the 'savages' in the colonies. Can't find it at the moment in a quick search, maybe @Dragon knows more about it.
  19. Right, so it's not something we should take serious.
  20. Saw this posted on a Dutch forum a couple of days ago, especially the most enthousiastic ultrarunner around there was excited about it. Because of the reactions there (not at all full of disbelief), by pretty experienced trail/ultra/mountain runners, I have no doubt it's real Apparently those trail and mountain runners running over terrain like this is indeed insane in terms of how effortless they make it look.
  21. But that's not new. At all.. Oh well, let them boycot. More space in the Olympic Village
  22. Mercedes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th position in today's first free practice in Hungary. The second one was a bit useless since most drivers didn't drive more than a handful of laps (if any) due to the rain. Vettel pulled a Jos Verstappen and took a surprising first place
