  1. Aren’t the teams set for this very late?
  2. Plus the Canadian athletes excel on hard court over grass/clay. They are certainly possibilities. It's certainly bizarre that our last tennis medal was the Gold in 2000.
  3. I feel like Andreescu will likely go unless she has some injury, no clue about Raonic. I really hope Canada can win a tennis medal this time round, its a strong team.
  4. And she’s very young in a sport where people normally peak older. That throw would have gotten a medal at the last World Championships and Olympics.
  5. My best guess is they are waiting to see what the total number of athletes for Canoe/Kayak and see if there's any extra room for an extenuating circumstance - but that seems unlikely....
  6. Welcome! It's certainly a bizarre scenario all around. LVL has been posting on social media that she is simply playing the waiting game now.
  7. Ruck does seem to perform when it counts so maybe she just thrives under pressure.
  8. Do you know if Swimming Canada intends on bringing B Standard folks for the men in events that don't correspond to the relay? Part of the reason there's more men than women is that Ruck/Pickrem have so many events. I have my eyes on MacNeil to qualify in either the 100m back or free - I'm not sure pre-selecting Ruck to that 100m Free spot was a smart move, so may not finish in the top 2 at the trials.
  9. She could have totally qualified with a solid performance at the last World Cup. Ugh - that's annoying.
  10. I'm not sure Portugal can earn multiple spots on the World Cup Ranking the qualification document says: "The highest ranked eligible athletes up to the 14th quota place will earn quota places for their NOCs (max. one per NOC)."
  11. Is Judo a sport where athletes qualify as individuals or per nation? Assuming they can't send someone else in Zupancic's place?
  12. There's some info in here that's interesting. She could still be named to the team in the 400m free if she's qualified in the 800m/1500m free. My guess is she's leaving her options open but really focussing on the relay spot for the 200m free. https://swimswam.com/canadian-trials-psych-sheets-oleksiak-drops-100-fly-no-mcintosh-in-400-free/
  13. Did Guica lose the continental quota? Or is that the one continental quota that Canada got? I definitely expected our Judo team to increase numbers from 2016 and not decrease. That being said I think this team is headed in the right direction.
  14. I also noticed that Oleksiak isn’t contending the 100m fly. Could she just be focussing on the freestyle races now?
  15. Did they not invite her or did she choose to not race that? I could see an argument why she would focus on the 200m free for relay and the 800m/1500m for her first Olympics.
  16. Netty seems to be on an upwards trajectory - hopefully she qualifies and can get back up to her form from a few years ago.
  17. I calculated Canada ahead of Ukraine....this is very confusing, but still not in a qualification spot.
  18. Thanks for explaining - my brain was getting tripped up because the World Cup Rankings number is wrong on wikipedia.
  19. Even so I think it would be Spain who gets the reallocation since they were the highest ranked from the semi-finals. I'm also a bit confused about the World Cup Ranking - can Australia qualify a second athlete if their winner of the continental quota is also in the World Cup Ranking?
  20. Would the reallocation not go to USA and NZL? Those are the two top placed who didn't make the final from the 2019 World Championships?
  21. I’m assuming some of the Slopestyle athletes can also compete in Big Air too.
  22. Another 2016 medalist attempting a comeback - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/kamloops-mountain-biker-olympian-motherhood-1.6037325 It seems like a pretty big challenge for her to be able to be named to the team, but impressive that she's trying.
  23. Thanks for putting this together. Super interesting to see how things are coming together for this team. Did Jonathan Cabral retire in the m100mH?
  24. Derek Drouin posted on Instagram that he did a makeshift competition on his home track and got 2.24. I’m so curious to see how he’ll do when he does return to competition.
