    What's the rule again only one person can qualify at this tournament per discipline? So if Canada qualified in the C1 200m they would need to choose between the C1 1000? But if Canada qualifies tomorrow in the K2 200 they can compete there?

    I was coming in this thread to say almost exactly the same thing. I think this thread is rather inappropriate.

    The commentators for the Canadian trials on CBC seemed to think he wasn't eligible, but nothing I could find on the internet upholds that.

    Ryan Cochrane won medals in those events at last year's world championship. Even though his times from the trials may not sound like a winning times, he is known to perform at key events. He is certainly a contender for medals in both events and clearly does have a chance.

    You didn't specifically mention the Women's 4x100m Freestyle team which is really strong, plus the girls all train together so they may have an advantage. EDIT: Looking at the schedule with the Women's 4x100 Freestyle, Women's 400IM and Men's 400 Freestyle all being on the first day, there is a decent chance that Canada could take a medal setting the first week of swimming off on a strong note.

    I really do not like this qualification system, but oh well. The three people who did qualify tonight look to have potential, so that is promising.
