  1. Is that what Canada's going to do? I wouldn't be surprised if Savard or Thomas swims the fly and Oleksiak swims the free just to have her on the last leg.
  2. That is very true. My fingers are crossed but I am not hopeful.
  3. I hope that was just a one off flub, they certainly looked technically very bad, even worse than the other lower place teams.
  4. That was a fantastic result for her. I am very impressed!
  5. What an epic 5 minutes Canada beats Brazil in Beach Volleyball and Valois-Fortier wins.
  6. Nestor/Pospisil winning, the amazing and incredible Basketball comeback, seeing Jennrich and Obee looking super solid, not too mention two bronze medals, today's highs outweighed the lows.
  7. It was also fantastic to see the Canadian Men's Volleyball team beat the US. What a great result for a team that needed a last chance qualifier that was down to the wire. The confidence seems there.
  8. Considering no one really expected Canada to contend for medals in the pool, this has been a completely thrilling first couple of days. Extremely disappointed by the flub in the diving today and the poor performance in gymnastics, but elated that Penny won the silver. Canada also won more fencing bouts this year than in 2012 (we have 2 this Olympics and only 1 in the previous).
  9. Penny was amazing today. This is a true star.
  10. That was a truly thrilling moment! The first time in 20 years a Canadian woman has won a swimming medal. And look at this team, it certainly won't be the last.
  11. Canada always seems to have bad luck at the summer Olympics. Haha.
  12. Oh that's annoying. Valois-Fortier though, that's super frustrating, sometimes people have those opponents you just can't break.

  14. The other Ryan Cochrane and Hugues Fournel have been added in the K2 200m after a DQ from Russia. So 315 altogether.
  15. Omnium, wrestling particularly. But a bunch of others could not pan out easily (golf)
  16. Your predictions seem to be a tad optimistic in some sports but to be perfectly honest if the cards fall right we may have the potential for more chances (one of the men's rowing crews, Van Koeverdan or Oldershaw repeating, or as you said swimming). So it'll probably even out, with our typical Canadian luck in some sports. As as for swimming I think Canada has the potential to make the finals in many events and hopefully that will lead to a surprise medal somewhere. One of the young team members could be a breakout star.
  17. Zika.
  18. He was just interviewed by the CBC saying how excited he was about going to the Olympics.
  19. Ugh. This is so annoying.
  20. Exactly! Generally this Canadian curse also comes from having so much pressure on a couple of athletes that they falter the Olympics. I really do wonder if having more athletes with that potential sees Canada do better overall. I guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks. I am expecting 3 medals from Athletics, but the 4-5 range is likely.
  21. So COC is targetting 19 medals then... I think that is doable. http://olympics.cbc.ca/news/article/canada-wants-least-medals-rio-olympics.html
  22. I'm not a huge fan of this marketing campaign, but it is indeed well crafted. Getting pretty excited.
  23. True that. It seems like she was in it for a spot on the 4X100m team.
