I don't know what it's like on the women's side but the sheer persistence of Gymnastics Canada to try to get Chartier to the Olympics makes me think they have confidence in him being a leader on the men's side.

I'm disappointed because its another 4th place for Canada - but I'm incredibly proud of Rosie for being such a trooper through her recent injury. She's been a great ambassador for Canada. Canada has had a string of good luck in this event and I'm sad that its come to an end....for now.

They really need to fully regroup after this - it was really pretty embarrassing. I wasn't expecting a medal but this did not look anything like the team from Rio. And Douglas pulling that off is really incredible - she could do this!

I’m surprised they could do this because didn’t Canada qualify for that event based on having 4 individuals qualify.

I think she had the A standard from before trials.

K. Smith swam the individual event so she doesn't need to swim the medley...that being said the options for the breast aren't great.

Acevedo, Mastromatteo, Savard and Smith - not sure they are trying too hard with it but I hope they make the final.

Well it'll be an uphill battle against the two time world champion Jorge Fonseca - although he was clearly having an issue with his thumb and looked a bit off in the semi.

Relay lineup is McIntosh, Smith, Sanchez and Oleksiak. I’m a tad worried about China but this is a solid lineup for us. Australia is front loading with Titmus and McKeon.

In the same Instagram story Savard said she would be swimming the prelims of the mixed medley in the fly.

They need drop 7.17 seconds to beat the national record. Pickrem was 1:59.82 and Oleksiak was 1:54.7 yesterday from a flat start so that's over 5 seconds right there. It'll be interesting see what subs China does - they didnt do any for the 4x100m.

Devin Heroux tweeted there would be 3 subs - My guess is that its Sanchez doing the lead off then Smith/McIntosh (maybe reversed) and Oleksiak as the anchor.

Looking at the splits from the relay heats - Rebecca Smith with a 1:55.9 and Marie-Sophie Harvey with a 1:57:5 looks promising. Not sure if they are going to get Sanchez to double up too.

That's what it looks like.... I'm not sure why she would just skip the 200m breast though - it doesnt conflict with other races.

So there's a rumor that Pickrem is going to scratch the 200m breastroke - she may be the answer to this relay conundrum.

My guess is that they put Smith, Savard, McIntosh and Oleksiak in the final....they may medal if China underperforms again.

Adam Kreek did a podcast where he interviewed all the different crews - the one with Smith/Sevick was the most fascinating one. They worked really well together but there was definitely some underlying issues and had to switch coaches like 2 or 3 months ago.

It looks like they never found the right rythym. This boat had coaching issues where they were super unhappy with their coach. Looks like it wasn’t their day.

I'm hopi I'm hoping the momentum from Day 4 will carry over to Day 5 as well. Agreed that the medal chances aren't particularly as strong but there are possibilities. Curious how this mixed doubles tennis will go...is the Greece team good together or are they seeded because of their combine individual ranking?
