  1. Crazy year for Ireland, once in a century luck for them. First hockey, then rowing and now equestrian. Just sad that they didnt do it in an olympic year. I think it would be great for them to win 1 medal at the olympics in rowing, equestrian and hockey combined.
  2. They have a good chance for silver in 2020, thats for sure. Given how bad GB is in dressage and jumping currently, this would certainly be very important for british riding.
  3. I am sure that Germany will win double gold in Tokyo, currently i would take any bet on that. Jung and Klimke are safe in the team, the question is who out of Auffarth and Krajewski will take the 3rd place. I still believe in Krajewski and if she learns how to do the cross-country, Germany will be the huge favorite. Very sad that Hoy retired, she deserved an olympic gold after she got robbed in 2004.
  4. Very interesting progression by Mayer in the 100 m sprint, he never seemed to have any talent in this event and then in his 20s he suddenly exploded and became a super-sprinter. I thought that Kaul would take the world record directly from Eaton, but Mayer made it considerably more difficult now, if Kaul shows the same development in the sprints, he will definitely take the world record, otherwise it will be very difficult.
  5. Overall absolutely shocking performance by the german rowing team. Another huge disappointment after the horrible results at the shooting world championships. Germany should never win less medals in rowing than any other nation except for GB and maybe New Zealand. 2 golds and 4 medals in total should be the absolute minium at every major competition. Men's eight and womens quadruple sculls are locks for medals in Tokyo, but the other 2 medals have to come from 2 out of men's single sculls, men's quadruple sculls and men's lightweight double sculls. Insane overperformances by Ireland and Canada, on the other hand GB and New Zealand were also pretty bad.
  6. You still think that she will screw it up for team Germany? Coincidence that both better scores are from 2002? Would be absolutely crazy if Germany could win the team gold without Jung and Auffarth. No matter what happens here, Germany (Jung, Auffarth, Klimke, Krajewski) not winning gold in Tokyo would be a huge shock for me.
  7. If they wont change it to best of 3, Zverev will never win a slam. Personally i prefer best of 3, thats why i prefer watching womens tennis. Best of 5 just takes to long, its the same as with football. I think i never watched a full football/best of 5 match because after 2-3 hours it just gets too boring for me.
  8. Trusova ... remember the name! Would really like to take a peek at the laboratory where russia is creating all their female talents year after year.
  9. If she was the mistake, then what would you call Bartoli or Pennetta? Personally i blame Kerber, it was her slam to lose and somehow she managed to need 3 sets to beat Hsieh and then to choke the match away against Halep, otherwise i am 99% sure that she would have won the title.
  10. Yes, Felix has everything it takes, but there is a huge question mark whether his health issues will allow him to play multiple best of 5 matches in a short time in the future. Who knows, maybe ATP will decide to have best of 3 at slams too, then Felix and Zverev might have a serious chance at slams.
  11. I believe it when i see it. Would be great if Germany could finally build some variety instead of always relying on both quadruple sculls and mens eight. 5 medals (those 3 mentioned before + Zeidler + mens lightweight double sculls) in Tokyo would be good, although the womens side should be much stronger than it currently is. My hope is that the strong second german team in womens quadruple sculls will be used to build a crew with medal winning potential in another event and that Naske will team up with someone else to build a strong boat for 2020 instead of trying to regain his spot in mens single sculls.
  12. Great that he was able to use the absence of Auger-Aliassime, Kuhn, Molleker and the other guys. Doesn't mean much for his future though.
  13. Wozniacki was the most surprising slam winner ever and she still became number 1 if i remember correctly, gonna be hard for Osaka to top that.
  14. Very sad for Del Potro, he is more talented than Djokovic but he just was injured too often. I hope that Djokovic will soon disappear again, him and Murray dominating tennis was the most boring period in this sport ever, even Grandparer and Nadal battling it out was more interesting. Of course the ultimate goal has to be Kyrgios, Felix and Denis winning slams as soon as possible. Kyrgios can do it if he can convince Lahyani to become his coach.
  15. Germany and Italy are obviously tanking here, by 2020 they will be back at the top 100%. Of course India looks amazing at junior level, but half of their "juniors" look like 30 year olds, so for now i am not too worried that they will replicate their results at senior level.
  16. I think the only one showing racist behavior here is you. Serena just behaved in a very bad way, not criticizing an experienced player like her for her childish behavior ,just because of her skin color, would be much more racist than what you think is going on here. From a player of her age and someone who has to raise a child, you have to expect a more grown-up behavior.
  17. Would be great, but i don't see any decent partner he could team up with. A couple of years ago Moos/Osborne looked like the future of mens double sculls, but i dont know what happened then ...
  18. Who would have thought 2 years ago that two other players born in 1997 would win a slam before Bencic would win one?
  19. I would vote for Gatlin or Froome probably.
  20. Serena must hate Germany ... First Kerber stops her from reaching #24 and no Osaka with her german coach does it. Nice story that Serena's former hitting partner now coaches the player who beat Serena at home. Who would have thought that Japan would first win a slam on the womens side and not the mens side? Although personally i dont really consider Osaka japanese ...
  21. Who do you mean? The only other young player that won a GS recently is Ostapenko and she certainly has the potential to win more slams.
  22. In 2 of the 3 events good results for Germany: If Robin Walter wouldnt have completely messed up his last series in mens junior 50 m pistol, he would have probably won silver. Seems like Germany finally has a great talent in this event. In mixed air pistol i had no expectations, so a 5th place is pretty good. Mixed air rifle was a bit disappointing, but i am sure that Reitz/Reitz will qualify later on. Also great to see that Germany finally has a great talent in women's trap who is in 2nd place after the first day of qualification.
