  1. If she was the mistake, then what would you call Bartoli or Pennetta? Personally i blame Kerber, it was her slam to lose and somehow she managed to need 3 sets to beat Hsieh and then to choke the match away against Halep, otherwise i am 99% sure that she would have won the title.
  2. Yes, Felix has everything it takes, but there is a huge question mark whether his health issues will allow him to play multiple best of 5 matches in a short time in the future. Who knows, maybe ATP will decide to have best of 3 at slams too, then Felix and Zverev might have a serious chance at slams.
  3. I believe it when i see it. Would be great if Germany could finally build some variety instead of always relying on both quadruple sculls and mens eight. 5 medals (those 3 mentioned before + Zeidler + mens lightweight double sculls) in Tokyo would be good, although the womens side should be much stronger than it currently is. My hope is that the strong second german team in womens quadruple sculls will be used to build a crew with medal winning potential in another event and that Naske will team up with someone else to build a strong boat for 2020 instead of trying to regain his spot in mens single sculls.
  4. Great that he was able to use the absence of Auger-Aliassime, Kuhn, Molleker and the other guys. Doesn't mean much for his future though.
  5. Wozniacki was the most surprising slam winner ever and she still became number 1 if i remember correctly, gonna be hard for Osaka to top that.
  6. Very sad for Del Potro, he is more talented than Djokovic but he just was injured too often. I hope that Djokovic will soon disappear again, him and Murray dominating tennis was the most boring period in this sport ever, even Grandparer and Nadal battling it out was more interesting. Of course the ultimate goal has to be Kyrgios, Felix and Denis winning slams as soon as possible. Kyrgios can do it if he can convince Lahyani to become his coach.
  7. Germany and Italy are obviously tanking here, by 2020 they will be back at the top 100%. Of course India looks amazing at junior level, but half of their "juniors" look like 30 year olds, so for now i am not too worried that they will replicate their results at senior level.
  8. I think the only one showing racist behavior here is you. Serena just behaved in a very bad way, not criticizing an experienced player like her for her childish behavior ,just because of her skin color, would be much more racist than what you think is going on here. From a player of her age and someone who has to raise a child, you have to expect a more grown-up behavior.
  9. Would be great, but i don't see any decent partner he could team up with. A couple of years ago Moos/Osborne looked like the future of mens double sculls, but i dont know what happened then ...
  10. Who would have thought 2 years ago that two other players born in 1997 would win a slam before Bencic would win one?
  11. I would vote for Gatlin or Froome probably.
  12. Serena must hate Germany ... First Kerber stops her from reaching #24 and no Osaka with her german coach does it. Nice story that Serena's former hitting partner now coaches the player who beat Serena at home. Who would have thought that Japan would first win a slam on the womens side and not the mens side? Although personally i dont really consider Osaka japanese ...
  13. Who do you mean? The only other young player that won a GS recently is Ostapenko and she certainly has the potential to win more slams.
  14. In 2 of the 3 events good results for Germany: If Robin Walter wouldnt have completely messed up his last series in mens junior 50 m pistol, he would have probably won silver. Seems like Germany finally has a great talent in this event. In mixed air pistol i had no expectations, so a 5th place is pretty good. Mixed air rifle was a bit disappointing, but i am sure that Reitz/Reitz will qualify later on. Also great to see that Germany finally has a great talent in women's trap who is in 2nd place after the first day of qualification.
  15. I think Anna Gasser is also doing some nice "stunts" in big air. In the end those events will always look less spectacular on the women's side.
  16. Great result for Germany in women's snowboard slopestyle, silver medal for Annika Morgan (born in 2002, she will be able to compete the next 2 years as well at junior level). I don't think Germany ever won a medal in that event, alongside with Leilani Ettel who won bronze in the halfpipe at the junior world championships last year, Germany finally has some hope in freestyle snowboarding. It took Germany very long to develop talents in the new freestyle skiing/snowboard events, but better late than never ... In women's slopestyle/big air/halfpipe snowboarding Germany has Annika Morgan, Leilani Ettel and Kona Ettel (born in 2007, 4th at the world rookie finals this year) and in women's slopestlye/big air/halfpipe freestyle skiing Germany has Lisa Zimmermann and Sabrina Cakmakli who both won junior world titles a couple of years ago.
  17. Ever heard of Chloe Kim? Murase is a great talent, but many japanese talents start to stagnate at a rather young age, she still has a long way to go if she wants to challenge Chloe Kim. Edit: Happy about the results of men's snowboard slopestyle?
  18. Thats the obvious comparison (Zverev/Svitolina), sadly ... At least Zverev is 3 years younger and maybe Lendl can turn him around. Zverev recently was much worse at masters, so maybe he will be better at slams finally.
  19. Apart from this golden generation Germany also has Marie Gülich (drafted in the first round of the WNBA draft this year) and Satou Sabally (PAC 12 freshman of the year this year), i think Germany has a bright future in this sport. Marie Gülich + Satou Sabally + Nyara Sabally should be special.
  20. Crazy that Auger-Aliassime was drawn to Shapovalov! My first round highlight, even ahead of Dimitrov vs. Wawrinka. I think Felix has a nice chance to advance if he isn't too tired by now.
  21. If i counted correctly, then the number of medals already secured by nation looks like this: Russia 7 Thailand/Kazakhstan 5 England/India 3 Uzbekistan/Cuba Brazil/Philippines/USA/Hungary/Egypt/Ukraine/Japan/Bulgaria/Puerto Rico/Ireland/Germany/Canada/Jordan Surprised that France and Italy haven't secured any medals so far.
  22. Apart from Popp absolutely horrible results once again for Germany. Her goal clearly has to be the gold medal, considering that she won a bronze medal last year. I think she is the only german female boxer who has a chance at qualifying for Tokyo.
