Congratulations to United Kingdom and John Lennon for their 3rd place finish. Not the result the UK were looking for having held a substantial lead going into the final session, but a podium finish is reason to be proud nonetheless. Guyana and Eddy Grant (4th place) and Canada's Michael Bublé (5th place) round out the Top 5. The United States just beaten by Canada on tie-breaker rules to deny them a place in the top 5. So with just the Bulgarian votes to come, Italy lead with 206 points ahead of Sweden on 199 points. So the Italians have a lead of 7 points. Italy need 6 points from Bulgaria to secure the title. Sweden need a minimum of 7 points to have any chance of wrestling the lead from Italy. Italy have exceeded 200 points now, while Ireland becomes the 9th nation to exceed 100 points.
