  1. 6.15 for Duplantis in Lausanne. https://worldathletics.org/competitions/diamond-league/news/lausanne-diamond-league-athletissima-2024
  2. I imagine that like the Olympics the official YT Channel will be heavily geo-blocked in most major territories and will restrict itself to the hugging and crying side of things.
  3. That is what is on TV, and a lot more on their YT Channel. But usually at the Paralympics coverage is pretty patchy. At London we got all the easy-and-cheap-to-cover track cycling, but literally none of the more expensive road cycling. That's the general rule - indoors and static, lots of coverage, outdoors and mobile.....maybe not. All they are saying is "more coverage than ever before"....
  4. Plus to honour the fact that it now has its own language.
  5. Previews for the main battles tomorrow night. https://worldathletics.org/competitions/diamond-league/news/lausanne-athletissima-diamond-league-ingebrigtsen-duplantis-wanyonyi-mahuchikh
  6. As ever, it's mainly the East European teams taking part. Most of the West Europeans are pretty much volunteers only. sending their youth team though.
  7. Aussies think they have a two year veto. However, I doubt this would apply universally, because in events like the Nations Cup sponsored teams are allowed to compete, even though such teams are often very thinly disguised - the Home Team's National U-23 team riding in the name of the team bike manufacturer or whatever. Matt Richardson: Cyclist could face two-year ineligibility period after GB switch, say AusCycling - BBC Sport
  8. BBC covering the senior races on streaming, Discovery has the rest.
  9. A meet tomorrow night with a reasonable international cast. European Athletics - YouTube
  10. The Men's Pole Vault in Lausanne is a city centre event - outside the railway station, I think, which is one of the few flat bits of Lausanne - on Wednesday night. SRF zwei - Live - TV - Play SRF
  11. I don't see any records kept for that - technically the World's Best. Here's a list of all the non-standard records. List of world records in athletics - Wikipedia
  12. Lausanne on Thursday, Silesia (complete with its own language now) on Sunday. Programme & Results (diamondleague.com)
  13. Bar billiards used to be big, but it's literally decades since I saw a table in working order. Pool replaced it.
  14. Just incredible! Sports Personality of the Year? Not enough! Bring back the Monarchy and make her Queen!
  15. Anyone looking for an exciting job? Switzerland offers cash prize to get munitions out of lakes https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdd7y3nm09lo
  16. They can add sports but not take them away.
  17. Pretty sure that a bridge has been a Mountain in the Men’s TdF before….maybe the one over the Seine in Normandy?
  18. Is honeycombed with tunnels containing Nazi gold, long-lost Vermeers & The Spear of Destiny, everyone knows that.
  19. British-based Canadian ice hockey commentator, can’t remember his name.
  20. I must say I really dislike the idea of an ever-changing Olympic line-up. It gives way too much power to the corrupt & incompetent IOC to mess about with the fundamentals of the individual sports. Look how they’ve ruined modern pentathlon, put men in women’s boxing & buggered up all the sailing classes. Just let the sports govern themselves & let the IOC stick to handing out the medals.
  21. Still pretty much in catch-up mode Women's Tour de France Blink Biathlon Festival
  22. Yeah, watching it I did think that a lot of good athletes had just given up. No money in it. Unlike biathlon & cross country where all the big names are still active.
  23. Wonder if there’s a bit of a rethink. Polish athletes famous for doing everything every year, maybe need to be a bit more selective.
  24. Hmm standards not high in the first event. Women’s Shot was famously dominated by back in the early days, but here only one athlete over 17m, and that only good enough for 6th or 7th in Paris.
  25. You will remember, we were threatened with a duathlon instead of a triathlon in Paris. Of course, the Duathlon is an event in its own right & this weekend sees the World Championships, taking place during the brutal winter, where everyone is at least safe from sharks & crocs, but not from snakes & spiders.
