Just going into the single biggest non-Olympic sporting week of the year for Winter Sports fans. Full programme in pretty much every single Winter Olympic discipline except long-track skating and snowboard cross. In this context, the cancelled women's alpine events in Mont Tremblant come as pretty much a relief. Plus two track Champions League, Cyclo-Cross World cup and the European Cross-Country Championships as well. And I guess early days in NCAA basketball and tons of ice hockey, not to mention the usual football.

Well, that is my thinking. If it just goes on WRs he is going to win every year for a decade or more.

Worth seeing, if only for some of the bizarre trans-national lineups. OK, / makes a lot of sense, but / & / were international sporting firsts.

Watched the mass start on Sunday & it just didn't work. Runners starting from the fourth or fifth row back (ie everyone in places 20-70) were losing time through no fault of their own - just not enough room on the piste for 70+ starters. So OK for an experiment, but not for real meaningful competition.

Two big results this weekend. Mia Brookes got her first World Cup Gold - she has already been World Champion - in the snowboard Big Air in Beijing. Plenty of silver and bronze, but that's the first Gold.
