kungshamra71 got a reaction from Makedonas in [OFF TOPIC] Eurovision Song Contest 2022
I liked cyprus song when hearing it on youtube video, but live... terrible voice, she should stick with making videoclips and not live concerts... got very disappointed

Actually to me something that is always very impressive is that we are a lot of people voting on a lot of songs (almost 40), and still we manage to never leave any competing song without at least a few points.
its really awesome and shows the musical diversity of everyone here

forgive euro 2004? NEVER xD
But indeed I seem to like some sort of Greek music, I like the language and the music style all together, I’m not sure about statistics but I’m pretty confident Greece frequently receives points from Portugal

I'm half Catalan and half Andalusian, but I have some family in Galicia so I got used to the language. This year all the hits in Spain were reggaeton and I wanted to send something different, so I followed the idea of @kungshamra71of sending songs in other languages and tbh I was not expecting to get more than 50 points.
I had doubts about sending Terra (the song that is participating) or Figa, in case you want to listen to this. It was their 1st hit outside of Galicia.

That feeling when you vote last and can not say a single word about which song you love and which not and which votes looks accurate and which countries have some major lack of any musical taste

Team Challenge Host City
Kecskemét
The lineup of the Goats
Moldova @Ionoutz24 Netherlands @heywoodu Portugal @kungshamra71 India @Fly_like_a_don
Kecskemét is the home of 110 thousand people and it's located south of Budapest, between the Danube and the Tisza. There are multiple theories what the "mét" in the name of the city means, but we all know what "kecske" means in Hungarian. Yep, it means goat. Now you know why I named this team the Goats.
Similar to Győr, Kecskemét has its own large German car factory which is serving Mercedes-Benz. But let's not get sidetracked again by a factory because I actually visited Kecskemét last year and I must say I was surprised by how lively and beautiful the city center was. Honestly, Kecskemét is not one of the cities that comes up in many discussions in Hungary despite its fun name, which is a shame because I enjoyed the little time I spent there. They have a interesting looking city hall and also a weird building called Cifrapalota, which means... "flashy palace"? It's an Art Nouveau building which was finished in 1902.
Cifrapalota
Kecskemét isn't exactly know for its successes in sports, but they do have a men's volleyball team who have won the Hungarian Championship 3 times.

The Official Logo
Dear users of Totallympics, the wait for the official logo of the 2022 Totallympics Annual International Song Contest is finally over, just in time for the draw! The logo is the work of our great @vinipereira, thank you so much for your contribution!
The inspiration behind the logo were Hungarian folk motives which very often feature birds and flowers. And there was one particular interpretation of our folk motives that we used as the main inspiration. It's the title card of a well-known Hungarian animated TV series which has adapted 100 Hungarian folk tales over the last 4 decades. The melody of this TV intro is firmly embedded in my head, it was probably one of the first things I saw on TV when I was a child, and the same must be true for many Hungarians. Both its design and melody are timeless and represent our traditions.

LOL, something finally dawned upon me. When I made the original schedule I made sure that there wasn't some big sport event on the day of the Grand Final, but I wasn't as careful with the postponement. I was like "Hm, May 7th? Whatever, there might be F1 Qualifying on that day, but that's about it." And, um... I was wrong, because the first weekend of Giro is on May 6-8. Which is fine, it's just the Giro, except hold on, Hungary is hosting the start of Giro this year. How did I forget about this? @heywoodu must be facepalming.
Anyway, long story short, I accidentally organized TISC in a way that the Budapest time trial of the Giro will be the "half time show" of our Grand Final. It will be a three hours long break between the second and third voting sessions, which is kinda long, but, you know, we just had a week long break for Open 2021, compared to that this is nothing. And I am sure cycling fans on the site don't want to choose between watching a historic stage of Giro (first start ever in Hungary) and following this contest.
Btw, you can already see the voting timetable in the first post. (Hopefully I won't have to change it because all 39 of you will submit your votes in time.)

Totallympics! Start Voting Now!
I have sent my votes to our dear @Sindo, now it's your turn to decide who wins the 2022 Totallympics Annual International Song Contest. As always, please, do NOT post your votes in this thread, or any thread, send them to me via a personal message. The voting will close on April 23th at 23:59 CEST. I have made a simple table as a ballot for you to make the voting a bit easier, but it's not mandatory to use it. You got more than 10 days to vote, so you don't have to rush it, listen to the songs as many times as you want, just don't forget about the deadline.

I am in the process of making my ranking (thankfully I have spent time listening to songs even before the deadline so I could quickly come up with a ranking in this phase) and man... this really is the non-English contest this time. I mean, I am not saying that I dislike the English language songs in this contest or that they don't have a chance to win (for sure they have a chance), but this is my first TISC where I feel like the non-English songs truly outweigh the English songs both in quantity and quality. (But feel free to disagree with me. )

39 Nations, 51 Artists & Bands, 39 Songs, 1 Winner
I made a world map yesterday for us to see all the countries that are competing and while that is good and all, I thought that the artists themselves also deserve to be seen together in one post. So here they are. There might be more than 51 of them, I wasn't exactly sure how to count the collaborations. But one thing is for sure: there can only be one winner. Yes, even if all the tie-breaking procedures fail to determine one definitive winner I will just organize a death match between the jurors on Dóm Square in Szeged. There can only be one.

The Playlist
Here they are, 39 songs to listen to and to judge.
The choice is now your hands... or more like it will be in a few days.
For now it's actually in the hands of the host who will now spend the next few days to come up with their own ranking until Wednesday.
In the meantime please listen to the songs and start preparing your rankings.

Brazil
It's definitely the most different choice Brazil has had for this competition. It is a tribute to the greatest brazilian singer of recent years who died last year. She revolutionized country music that has always been dominated by men in Brazil, managed to break records and become the most recognized voice in the country. The day after her death, the commotion was so great that she became the most listened person on Spotify in the world, although she sang only in portuguese.
Lyrics
Walking by on the other side
If someone runs into her, stay quiet Don't point the finger, don't judge so soon She has reasons to be this way This is prejudice She lived so much contempt That even God doubts it and cries from up above She was just a girl Who dedicated her life to second-rated loves Of course she's already dreamed of getting married one day It wasn't in her plans to be the shame of her family Each one who passed by took a little bit of her life And the rest that’s left she sells on the corner In order to have my body warm I froze my heart In order to hide the sadness Waterproof makeup Today you see me like that and walk by on the other side But loving hurts a lot more Than the disgust in your face In order to have my body warm I froze my heart In order to hide the sadness 15 cm heels and miniskirt Today you see me like that and walk by on the other side But if you knew a third of the story You'd hug me instead of stoning me

PORTUGAL
As someone living abroad, the annual edition is always a challenge for me as each year i feel i'm getting further away from "what's happening in Portugal", specially in music.
Still, and although not a huge fan of this song, i chose it because of what it means: the good relations between Portugal and the other Portuguese speaking countries
I have no idea if this is also normal for other nations (like spain, england, france), but i find really cool that whenever any other Portuguese speaking nation is playing anywhere, in Portugal the big majority of people supports those nations (when Portugal gets kicked out of the 2022 World Cup, for example, i will with no doubts cheer for our "povo irmão", Brasil), and the other way around is also true (the celebrations in Angola or Cape Verde when Portugal won the Euro were amazing). I really like this friendship spirit, and i think this song is all about that
