YEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Finally we win at something!!!
-
Tomorrow is the final of Euro 2016..... Under 17 The match will be an Iberian duel! Portugal vs Spain Portugal wasn't on a final since 2003 (when we won our first and only title), and Spain since 2010 (Spain won already two cups in 2007 and 2008). Both teams played very well on this Euro so you can expect a great match this Saturday!

And in a non-sports-related news: Portugal runs for four days straight on renewable energy alone Zero emission milestone reached as country is powered by just wind, solar and hydro-generated electricity for 107 hours http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/may/18/portugal-runs-for-four-days-straight-on-renewable-energy-alone Had to share this!

Uff, one goes out for a day and on returning there's so much news to read! xD Anyway, the portuguese jury (that is... me ) will be visiting the Portuguese emigrant community in the USA, so it will not going to be available for voting on that day. Therefore, if anyone desire to swap their time to Portugal's, feel free to do it I will allways try to keep an eye on the contest (to see if our song got any point hehe ), and will try to be available at the portuguese voting time, but that would be unlikely

SEVILLA!!! Amazing, they are the kings of Europa League!

TEAM PORTUGAL
-
So, crowned champion in Portugal! Benfica won for the 3rd time in a row and - since 60% of our population are benfica fans - all country is celebrating! (not me, my team is Porto ) Here is a picture of how Lisbon is right now:
-
Really sad for Australia, she was clearly the best in my opinion. This new system was "great", in the way that showed everyone how horrible are the "people's vote", where the winners are allways the Eastern countries with the biggest number of neighbours....
-
Australia: She was amazing!!! Too bad i'm pretty sure the crappy russian song is gonna win, but i'm going to cheer really loud for the aussies on Saturday !
-
And our official 23 player rooster will be anounced next Tuesday, May 17th (after our national league ends)
-
Our slogan is great, though I think it will need the whole bus as it is quite large haha "Uma equipa, uma paixão. 11 milhões no coração. Força Portugal!" "One team, one passion. 11 million (people) in our heart. Go Portugal!"
-
Renato Sanches, a portuguese young player (18 years old) from Benfica, has signed for Bayern Munchen for 35M€, a record value for portuguese players (in our own liga of course ). This transfer can go up to 80M€ depending on extra achievments. This is causing a huge discussion here because some people think he's our future "Ronaldo", and others think he's not that special and that Bayern made a huge mistake.

Good semifinal, all the songs I wanted to pass did it :-) i'm just hoping the Russian song doesn't win... Such an overrated song, in my opinion!
-
Exactly my thoughts! I think it's really bad for the olympic future of golf, but I totally undersand the players, they dream is to win the majors, the ryders cup, those were the dreams that they grew with, not winning an olympic medal...

Summer Olympic Games 2016 Torch Relay
kungshamra71 replied to Gianlu33's topic in Summer Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016
Rosa Mota is a true hero here, she was the first portuguese woman (and only the second portuguese athlete) to win an Olympic Gold Medal!!! (my country only has 4 Gold medals, so you can imagine how huge she is ) -
Really bad news for Olympic golf.... He and Jason Day would made a very strong "team" for Australia.. it's a shame have an Olympic Sport where its best athletes don't want to take part on it
-
Wow, thank you for that link, very well explained! (Btw, didn't know there was an ElPais from Brazil ) I kind of had that "joke" opinion like you do, because yesterday the House of Deputies voting was broadcasted live on our news' channels, and I saw a bit of it, and it felt really weird both that kind of speachs and the cards that the very politicians brought to the voting saying "TCHAU QUERIDA". But once again, that's what the media broadcasts, so that's why is allways good to have an opinion from the inside

For the brazilians users in here, who can give me a more real and trustful answer: Can you explain me what the hell is happening in Brazil right now? Here (in Portugal) they're showing a lot of confusing news about the "impeachment", showing the people in the streets, and the mess in the parlament, but there's something the Tv news never talk about and that I still don't understand: why all this? why is the parlament "kicking" away the Brazilian President? what was the trigger?

Football Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016
kungshamra71 replied to hckošice's topic in Football
I think that for Brazil's female team it would be a tough tournament, but for the men's team I really think they will (finally) get the gold at football (though I hope not, at least while Portugal is still in the competition ) -
Football Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016
kungshamra71 replied to hckošice's topic in Football
It's very unlikely for Ronaldo to play in Rio. They asked it to the FPF (Portuguese Football Federation) Diretor today, Pedro Pauleta, and he answered that "it will be difficult as he [Ronaldo] will play the Euro so it's unlikely for he to make the two tournaments"
