  1. There are still commentators here...now they're showing the 'backstage' area, where they even have beds on the floor for the athletes!
  2. The world feed via Peacock is just showing them warming up on discus.
  3. Skotheim still looks like he's gonna throw the discus. He had ripped his bib off, but now just put it back on.
  4. And now the door opens a little for due to the DQ. (Might Skotheim appeal?)
  5. Yes, now I see that he's been DQed, which definitely opens it up a ton. (A shame for Skotheim! I thought he knocked it over simply because he was still regaining his balance after hitting one hurdle with a foot...like, there was no way he could have jumped it.)
  6. Skotheim has a rough go at the hurdles...opens the door a little for Garland
  7. Throughout the championship, I've been watching this on Peacock, which is the NBC monthly subscription thing here in America. A lot of it has been the World Feed (and probably most of this doesn't air on NBC or its affiliated channels on 'normal' TV); however, whenever NBC wants to air things on TV, they'll bring in their commentators, focus on America, etc. For this session, it's the World Feed. For me, it's actually quite a relief to get the World Feed instead of NBC for the broadcast. Get a greater glimpse of all the competitors, not as many interviews, etc. Not to mention no ads. I'm sure NBC will take the evening session, however. (I'm also glad that it's the world feed for Paris 2024 that I can (re)watch on the Olympics site.)
  8. 46 federations with medals in these WCH...more than the 43 in the Olympics in Paris! Might Puerto Rico pull out the bronze in the Decathlon to add to the total?
  9. I'm trying to learn more about unfamiliar-to-me sports, specifically about how the Olympic athletes compete in the off season. I'm learning about the Sailing Grand Slam, which is actually finishing up this weekend with Dutch Water Week (which isn't even on the calendar here). Five regattas throughout the year. https://www.sailinggrandslam.com/ Intrigued to try and follow it more in 2026. Anyone else follow sailing at all?
  10. And that's just one of the unfortunate realities of sport sometimes. Sometimes it wasn't the best, fairest, most accurate result...even with technology. There will be bias, error, or events that can't be repeated. Obviously we hope to minimize these instances, but it's unavoidable I'm afraid.
  11. 12. Also, just to say it...I recognize that the US is dominant in Athletics. It's not lost on me that the US has a lot of resources that can help train up excellent athletes, a luxury that isn't available everywhere. It's always nice in situations like this to see others get a chance to grab the gold. I feel similarly when watching table tennis, for instance, and someone manages to beat China...there is a sense of 'boredom' I feel if it's an all-China sweep. So, I can commiserate to some extent if you were feeling excited that the US was out. But also, it's of course nice to see your home country succeed, so I'm happy we get the chance to re-race. And also, regardless of how it pans out, many congratulations for all the athletes, especially the medallists, for their success! Regardless of nationality, it's so great to see what humans are capable of, and hopefully we can all be good sports, gracious in winning and losing, and using sport to help connect people from all over the world.
  13. I'm curious as to what Kenya's argument was. I just watched the clip again, and I don't see any interaction between them and US/Zambia. (Kenya is in the red kit two men to the left of Zambia. If anything, Kenya almost gets in the way of France. - 05:57 of the Youtube.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dbwj37SjxM4 (I'm of course glad that US gets another shot, however it happened. Here's hoping to a successful baton pass and fast legs tomorrow!)
  14. Who's here for the Sport Climbing WCH? Can't wait!
  15. Per the Reuters article I just posted, looks like even if SA beat France, then SA gets to join as the 9th (so France stays in regardless).
  16. https://www.reuters.com/sports/hot-favourites-us-bomb-out-4x400-metres-relay-2025-09-20/ Per Reuters, @avlar is correct regarding the 4x400m. "The same lineups for both teams will run at 10.40 a.m. local time and whoever wins, whatever their time, will become the ninth finalist later on Sunday." As far as South Africa, "if they run 38.34 seconds or better (France's time as the eighth-placed team) they will be entered as the ninth team in the final."
  17. "UPDATE: USATF has confirmed there will be a runoff for the final spot in the men’s 4x400m Final between USA and Kenya after both were impacted by Zambia in Heat 1 of the preliminary round." Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/DO0kdoLDj0n/ It's showing up on the timetable already. Also, South Africa gets to re-run the 4x100 by themselves. I guess SA (and USA and Kenya) will still need to be faster than the slowest q? Otherwise why is SA running by themselves?
  18. Other fun fact I heard the other day: The combined winning margin for the M 1500m, 10,000m, 3000m Steeple, and Marathon is just 0.15s. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has a winning margin of 0.2 in her 400m race alone. We'll see if the M 5000m is just as close!
  19. Ethiopia still with no gold. Last time that happened per my quick Wikipedia research was 1991. They've still got M 5000m tomorrow.
  20. Tie on points! Wow!
  21. Due to time qualifying and DQs, the only valid team from Heat 2 of the M4x4 that didn't advance is Japan.
  22. That was a mess.
  23. Thompson also stepped out of lane.
  24. Whew. US managed to get the baton around no problem here.
  25. Per our commentators, USA has formally filed a protest for the M 4x400...we'll see what happens.
