  1. Quite an interesting semi-finals for W Boulder. Five of the 8 finalists came from the bottom half of the quali results, including two who were tied for last place coming in. Several new(ish)-to-finals competitors. Perhaps most interesting is that Team will not have a single representative in the finals, especially surprising since they occupied 4 of the Top 10 in the Boulder World Cup rankings this year. Janja got flustered and wasn't able to complete the last boulder (the holds on the slab had gotten bad), but topping the previous three boulders ensured her a place in the finals. I saw her flustered in Paris (with a slight injury), but she still came through in the end. Competing in the finals coming up shortly... 8. Anna Maria Apel Her first final this year 7. Jenny Buckley Only her second final this year 6. Ayala Kerem Hasn't made a worldwide senior finals since 2023 5. Melina Costanza Hasn't competed at all this year. Her last Boulder comp was 2022. The only Boulder finals she made was the PanAm YCh in 2014. (Yes, 2014.). (She won that one.) 4. Oriane Bertone Finally, a more household name in bouldering. 3. Janja Garnbret Can she pull off the double gold? And can Slovenia grab two medals again in this podium? 2. Annie Sanders Double USA entry in finals! Hopefully One of our two can pull it off! 1. Erin McNeice Was low down in the quali round, but managed to win Semis.
  2. A great Lead competition today. I just finished watching after having to work today. On the Women's side during Semis, probably the biggest upset was Laura Rogora not making finals. had three to make finals, which isn't so surprising. They've got a great team. 17-year old Flora Oblasser was into finals...she'll be one to keep your eyes on in the future! For the men during Semis, Adam Ondra , Colin Duffy , Luka Potocar , and probably most surprisingly Sorato Anraku missed out on finals. Giovanni Placci made finals at his first WCH. This is actually the first finals he's made during senior international competition. And probably my favorite thing is that siblings Sam and Zélia Avezou both made it to finals. Love seeing siblings compete together. Then during finals... Sadly, Annie Sanders didn't make the podium, nor did Erin McNeice . Instead, hometown favorite Chaehyun Seo took bronze, while took the top two spots...19-year-old Rosa Rekar took the silver, her first senior level medal, and none other than Janja Garnbret took the top spot. Olympic champion in 2024, World Champion in 2025. She truly is amazing to watch. The only one to top the route today. On the men's side... Jakob Schubert and Sam Avezou had high hopes, but had a low slip. Alberto Ginés Lopez (2020 Olympic champion), who won the overall World Cup without having ever won a gold medal, has to wait another year for another medal. Taisei Homma reached the same hold as Alberto, but due to countback, Homma took the bronze. Satone Yoshida , the World Cup bronze medalist, took silver. And to the delight of the crowd, Dohyun Lee nabbed top spot. Looking forward to seeing some of these athletes over the next couple of days in Boulder! (Hoping for a medal!)
  3. Nice comeback . Congrats! Sorry to see lose, but that's how it is!
  4. Had some great races today and a lot of slips. Congrats to , , and for the medals! (Michael Hom for the USA...gotta keep your eye out on him...he's good!)
  5. But in Spain, a peacock is called a 'royal turkey'
  6. Men's Speed Qualis are done... Proud to say that the has three men moving forward. Zach Hammer and Sam Watson are in the top 2 positions, and a rising star Michael Hom climbed into 5th position. Glad to see Eric Noya Cardona through to the finals. He's always got a great attitude, and I love to see him succeed. Probably the biggest upset was Ryo Omasa failing to make it through, considering he medalled three times this year on the WC Circuit. 5.078 was the cutoff time. So fast!
  7. A new WR for W Speed! In the Quarter-Finals, there were only athletes from , , and . The hometown Jimin Jeong placed 4th, however. Gold - Alexandra Mirosław Silver - Deng Lijuan Bronze - Zhao Yafei Congrats! Now bring on the men tomorrow!
  8. Emma Hunt slips on both her quali runs and won't make it to finals.
  9. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/icc-suspends-usa-cricket-1504210 ICC suspends USA Cricket board "USAC's suspension will not impact USA's participation in the T20 World Cup starting in February in India and Sri Lanka"
  10. Boulder qualis today... Probably the biggest upset was Sohta Amagasa from not making it through on the men's side. There are a few athletes towards the top of the roster that I'm not super familiar with. Happy that two men from made it through (Colin Duffy and Ben Hanna). Toby Roberts did make these finals. I know he'll be happy. Two American women also made it through, Annie Sanders of course, and Melina Costanza, whom I've never seen climb, I don't think. W speed qualis/finals tomorrow!
  11. BTW, the CONCACAF W Qualifier supposedly has its first match in November, but there are no exact dates, places, matches, etc. at all. The draw happened just over a month ago. Hopefully there will be news soon! https://www.concacaf.com/womens-championship/news/202526-concacaf-w-qualifiers-official-draw-and-competition-details/
  12. with the 3-1 win over . Next up will be vs . (Too bad these games aren't airing freely in the USA...)
  13. And on the men's side... Alberto Ginés López Neo Suzuki Satone Yoshida Colin Duffy barely makes it through in p20 Some big names didn't make it through...Toby Roberts, Yannick Flohé, Sascha Lehmann, Max Bertone, another one of USA's up-and-comers Jesse Grupper
  14. Some stats comparing Paris 2024 to Tokyo 2025: Paris - 43 nations with medals Tokyo - 53 6 nations that medalled in Paris, not Tokyo - Croatia, India, Norway, Pakistan, Uganda, Zambia 16 nations that medalled in Tokyo, not Paris - Colombia, Cuba, Ireland, Latvia, Mexico, Nigeria, Samoa, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Switzerland, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela Then for some math, the next two tables are the difference between how nations did at the Olympics vs. World Champs How nations did at Paris vs. Tokyo, sorted by difference in total medals (positive number indicating you did better at Tokyo) So, Italy earned 4 more medals this year. USA overall earned 8 fewer medals this year. How nations did at Paris vs. Tokyo, sorted by difference in gold medal count (positive number indicating you did better at Tokyo) So, Kenya earned 3 more gold medals this year than last. Norway earned 2 fewer. And finally, here's Paris vs. Tokyo medal table by nation (Tokyo is on left, sorry for weird formatting):

  24. Ah, true. I wasn't certain if the baton passing might have a detrimental effect or not.
  25. SML with 47.82, only 0.04 slower than her race the other day.
