  1. Fun seeing an Icelandic gymnast in the finals
  2. Just got around to looking at the results from today...despite the news from Asher, looks like we'll have someone in 4, maybe 5, of the apparatus finals. We'll see in a few hours after the last two subdivisions come through. I think Brady Malone is the only returning 2024 Olympian for us.
  3. To make it worse, apparently his family is from Jakarta, and his grandparents were going to be able to watch him compete on the big stage: https://www.olympics.com/en/news/asher-hong-brings-his-gymnastics-home-to-jakarta
  4. Results post updated. Canada with a million gold medals this week!
  5. Both of our leading women on the podium in the 1500m! Hopefully we'll be able to snag a gold in the next stop.
  6. 9 skaters in the 1500m W Final A...we'll see how this goes! Edit: All 9 finished...no crashes!
  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024–25_ISU_Short_Track_World_Tour Nope - Jens took the 1000m in Stop 1, and Dubois took the 500m in Stop 2. But still quite impressive!
  8. How we did in Montreal 2: Men: 500m - Andrew Heo and Brandon Kim made the QF - same as last week 1000m - Kim made the QF (an improvement) 1500m - Brandon Kim finished 3rd in the B Final (an improvement), and Clayton De Clemente finished 4th in the B Final (an improvement). Andrew Heo made the SF (same as last week). Relay - Made the A Finals! (We finished 4th, but a nice opportunity to skate in the A Finals.) Women: 500m - KSG with the Bronze, Corinne Stoddard with 4th. 1000m - Stoddard went down in the finals, finishing 4th. Again, KSG went out in the QF. 1500m - Stoddard in 2nd, KSG with a bronze! Relay - Finished 1st in the B Finals (5th overall). Mixed Relay: Made it to the B Finals and finished 3rd (so 7th).
  9. And per commentators, they can't find another example of a male ever doing that at an event.
  10. What is it with the YouTube stream and 1000m finals...mine is bugging out severely.
  11. Results at the Grand Prix de France: Women: - Isabeau Levito - Finished fourth. Was third after the SP, but the 4th place athlete from had a better FP. - Elyce Lin-Gracey - Finished eighth Men: - Ilia Malinin - Gold medal, unstoppable. He still has room to up his points, too. - Andrew Torgashev - Had an unfortunate SP, but had the 5th best FP. Finished 6th overall. - Maxim Naumov - Finished 9th Pairs: - Katie McBeath and Daniil Parkman - Finished 4th, but a distant one - Audrey Shin and Balazs Nagy - Finished 5th Ice Dance: - Eva Pate and Logan Bye - Finished 7th - Emily Bratti and Ian Somerville - Finished 8th Coming up in China next week... Women: Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu Men: Camden Pulkinen, Jacob Sanchez* Pairs: Katie McBeath and Daniil Parkman Ice Dance: Madison Chock and Evan Bates, Caroline Green and Michael Parsons, Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik
  12. Got this post updated with the results. Congrats to the winners...see you all next weekend in !
  13. Ilia Malinin is just at another level. I did notice that he left some triples out there...but I imagine they will all be quads by the time Milano rolls around. (His free program was worth more points than two skaters' short+free combined.) And Adam Siao Him Fa made it back on the podium after not having the best of short programs, and Lukas Britschgi almost clawed his way back. Andrew Torgachev likewise redeemed himself in the second skate. Looking forward to seeing more from these guys.
  14. The free dance by Cizeron and Fournier was breathtaking. I was enthralled!
  15. Yes, unfortunately. https://www.instagram.com/usagym/p/DP_AdI3iMpn/
  16. They did upload the race separately. Enjoy!
  17. I love how Ceccon is like "Yeah, this ain't the Olympics...I'm not gonna shave."
  18. Yeah, they were having difficulties. I watched as the number of viewers dropped as it was happening, and even on the replay uploaded now, it cuts straight from the intro to the Final A into the M 1500m or whatever it was.
  19. Too bad the YouTube feed cut out and I missed the W 1000m Finals to see what happened to Corinne Stoddard (looks like she was knocked down by another skater).
  20. The Japanese women go 1-2-3 for the Women's program, leaving Isabeau Levito in fourth. The Japanese skaters all had amazing skates, and gold medalist Nakai Ami is just 17 years old! Gold - Nakai Ami Silver - Sakamoto Kaori Bronze - Sumiyoshi Rion
  21. Just realized that these two from San Marino were both medalists back in Tokyo. San Marino sent 5 athletes to Tokyo. Three of them (60%) won medals. (And those are the only medals they've ever won.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marino_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics
  22. San Marino! Love seeing the small nations advance.
  23. For those interested in watching the BMX Freestyle World Cup this weekend: https://www.youtube.com/@FISEWorld/streams
  24. It seems to be an expanded edition of what Paris 2024 did with the surfers out in Tahiti...they still get to (kind of) be part of the ceremony, while not requiring that they all be at the same place. It will be interesting to see delegations that are split between locations, especially since there will only be one flag (though I'm sure there will be some marker/designation, probably just with a volunteer).
