  6. I just looked, and last time, it was two days before it started...so if things go like that, then Wednesday might be the day.

  8. Ah yes...I see cycling is just out of order alphabetically. Also, interestingly they're calling it just 'Climbing', not 'Sport Climbing' on this page. I edited my original list.
  9. Interesting that this wasn't a matter of 'he was right' or 'she was right'...rather 'Sorry, if something had happened four days later, we would have had jurisdiction'. (So who did have jurisdiction?)
  10. 47 hours and 15 minutes left to get your predictions/edits in
  11. So, what're we missing now... Baseball/Softball, Road/Track Cycling, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Athletics...is that it? Per an article I just saw, the IOC will approve those at a future meeting. Edit: Also lacrosse, skateboarding, water polo, surfing, and boxing Crowd-sourced list (Thanks!) Athletics Baseball/Softball Boxing Cricket Football Lacrosse See here Skateboarding Surfing Table Tennis Water Polo (The article is quite wrong in declaring that only six systems remain, based on this compiled list...even if you remove the provisional sports.)
  12. Team event starts Friday: Rhythm Dance 03:55 EST Pairs Short 05:35 Women's Short 07:35 Any thoughts as to who we'll send to compete in these?
  13. Ice hockey on Thursday! Women's @ 10:40 EST vs. We like our chances, yes?
  14. Here we go! Thursday: Team Cory/Korey will face off against at 04:05 EST and at 08:35. Friday: vs. at 04:05 and at 08:35. Then Opening Ceremonies. I honestly don't know about curling rankings/odds. What're our chances in these matches?
  15. Less than 48 hours before first Olympians hit the slopes (Men's Downhill training)! And just over 48 hours before the first XD curling match!
  16. At least you will still have the Kalucka sisters.
  17. Perhaps Katie Uhlaender will try to appeal to have herself included.

  19. There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists. Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair. But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both. But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles. (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
  20. No need to when @JoshMartini007 is doing a great job
  21. https://nypost.com/2026/01/31/sports/team-canada-skeleton-coach-joe-cecchini-speaks-out-after-american-katie-uhlaender-manipulation-claim/ Oh the drama.... Cecchini: “I don’t really wanna speak negatively about Katie, but Katie was not on the World Cup team. She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.” Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.” Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired? /sarcasm (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
  22. Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says. (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
  23. From ATP's Facebook: Federer, Nadal and Alcaraz all won their first Australian Open at: 22 years old In their fifth appearance In their first final All on the date February 1st https://www.atptour.com/en/news/alcaraz-federer-nadal-australian-open-crazy-fact
  24. So sorry to hear about Lindsey Vonn's crash... I hope she is okay #1, and #2 I just hate it for her, if it dampens her chances at succeeding in Milan. She had such an amazing WC season leading up to this. For her sake, I hope she can find a way to pull through. Regardless, I hope she is proud of what she has already accomplished this year (not to mention everything else in her past).
  25. Week 4 - 26 Jan-01 Feb Tennis - Some good success here at the Australian Open! Men's Singles - Learner Tien and Ben Shelton made it to the QF. Women's Singles - Iva Jovic, Coco Gauff, and Amanda Anasimova made it to the QF. Jessica Pegula made it to the SF. Men's Doubles - Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski won! Women's Doubles - Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova made it to the QF. Mixed Doubles - Christian Harrison/Irina Khromacheva and JJ Tracy/Anna Danilina made it to QF, while Taylor Townsend/Nicola Mektic made it to SF. Squash - Olivia Weaver fought hard, but ended up in 2nd. Soccer - We beat Chile 5-0. Road Cycling - Luke Lamperti ended up in 12th (in the lead pack) in the Great Ocean Road Race. Equestrian - A USA sweep of the podium, with Kyle King taking top prize. (Holy cow the sum of the prize amounts are massive...$340,000 for this event.) Table Tennis - Hasn't quite wrapped up with, but given the rankings, Kanak Jha should end up in second (unless he can pull an upset over Hugo Calderano), and Lily Zhang should also end up in second (unless she beats Bruna Takahashi). Edit: Amy Wang took out Bruna! So, USA ends up 1-2. And second edit: Amy Wang wins over Lily Zhang, despite being a lower ranking (61 vs 37). Played great! Rugby Sevens - US Women came up in 4th in Singapore. Cricket - The men won a practice round against Oman, and we're doing two more warm-ups this week in preparation for the WC. The Women, unfortunately, ended up in 5th place, being the first out in the Qualifier for the WC. But hopefully they earned some good experience for the future! Coming up in Week 5 - A ton! Nevermind that the Olympics also start... Cricket - The men have two warm-up matches this week before starting the World Cup later. Table Tennis - North American Championships Tennis - Women have a tourney in Abu Dhabi. Our Men will face in the Davis Cup. Road Cycling - Perhaps Chloe Dygert or another American woman will also be in ? Flag Football - Our men play vs. on Thursday...watch on the NFL Youtube. (This is an exhibition match, but it's unofficially to see who 'won' the gold from the recent championship game that got called off.) Squash - Another Platinum tourney in Chicago. Fencing - Foil and Épée will be contested. Wrestling - Zagreb Open time! Rhythmic Gymnastics - We have a US Event. Rugby Sevens - Our women will have a Try (pun, sorry!) down in . Equestrian - World Cup Jumping in . Boxing - US International Open Judo - Paris Grand Slam I also added the Indoor Archery and Track/Field events to the calendar, but I didn't post any results, simply because the events are different. But Brady Ellison has still achieved some success in Archery (as has Nicholas D'Amour, who shows USA, but competes for in the Olympics), and the two indoor athletics meets thus far have featured primarily American athletes, but the upcoming ones in the next couple of weeks are in Europe...probably will feature European athletes.
