  1. Just realized that these two from San Marino were both medalists back in Tokyo. San Marino sent 5 athletes to Tokyo. Three of them (60%) won medals. (And those are the only medals they've ever won.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marino_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics
  2. San Marino! Love seeing the small nations advance.
  3. For those interested in watching the BMX Freestyle World Cup this weekend: https://www.youtube.com/@FISEWorld/streams
  4. It seems to be an expanded edition of what Paris 2024 did with the surfers out in Tahiti...they still get to (kind of) be part of the ceremony, while not requiring that they all be at the same place. It will be interesting to see delegations that are split between locations, especially since there will only be one flag (though I'm sure there will be some marker/designation, probably just with a volunteer).

  6. Announcements from USS&S about the teams: Freeski (Big Air, Slopestyle, Ski Cross, and Halfpipe): https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/news/2025-26-stifel-us-freeski-team-announced Freestyle (Moguls, Dual Moguls, and Aerials): https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/news/2025-26-stifel-us-freestyle-ski-team-announced Some athletes have pre-qualified for the Games given the USA's selection criteria, based on their results in 2024-2025: https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/news/dehlinger-ferreira-hall-kauf-qualify-2026-olympics-winter-games - Quinn Dehlinger: Silver in the 2023 and 2025 WCh for Men's Aerials - Jaelin Kauf: Silver in 2022 in Women's Moguls, WC winner in Moguls and Dual Moguls for 2024-2025, Gold in 2025 WCh in Dual Moguls - Alex Hall: Gold in 2022 in Men's Slopestyle (also made finals in Men's Big Air), Bronze in 2025 WCh in Men's Slopestyle (also finalist in Men's Big Air) - Alex Ferreira: Silver in 2018 and Bronze in 2022 in Men's Halfpipe, Bronze in 2025 WCh in Men's Halfpipe, undefeated in 2023-2024 WC
  7. Team USA 2026 Men - up to 16 athletes, currently at 16 - TBD Women - up to 16 athletes, currently at 16 - TBD History The USA is one of the top medal collectors in this event. We're 1st in overall medals in 2nd in gold medals won. (Canada is the other top winner.) Last year, we won 8: Gold in Mixed Team Aerials and Men's Slopestyle; Silver in Women's Moguls, Men's Big Air, Men's Slopestyle, and Men's Halfpipe; and Bronze in Women's Aerials and Men's Halfpipe. So, our odds for medaling are good.
  8. Update: It is happening, but not with the original 6 countries. Only Japan and the USA are in from the original announcement. Now, instead of Austria, GB, Slovenia, and France, we're getting Australia, Canada, South Korea, and Israel. Japan and Korea are sending their A team, but the USA is not. It's going to be an interesting team competition...we'll see how it plays out! https://www.ifsc-climbing.org/events/ifsc-nations-grand-finale-fukuoka-2025/news/world-class-lineup-confirmed-for-ifsc-nations-grand-finale-2025
  9. While we're waiting for these WCh, the Para Worlds are happening now, and are streaming (in the USA at least) on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@ucichannel
  10. Articles dealing with the announcement of the US Alpine team: NBC: https://www.nbcolympics.com/news/mikaela-shiffrin-lindsey-vonn-headline-us-alpine-ski-team-roster-announcement USS&S: https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/news/2025-26-stifel-us-alpine-ski-team-announced
  11. Team USA 2026 Men - up to 11 athletes, currently at 6 - TBD Women - up to 11 athletes, currently at 11 - TBD History In 2022, Ryan Cochran-Siegle won silver in the Super-G (and he's still with the team). We've won plenty of medals in the sport through the years (third behind Austria and Switzerland), but the 2022 total was the lowest in a while. Back in 2010, we won 8 (the highest total for that sport that year). We'll see how this year fares.
  12. Announcement of the team from US Ski & Snowboard: https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/news/2025-26-stifel-us-cross-country-ski-team-announced (This is the overall team, not who is going to the Olympics.)
  13. Article from NBC about the figure skating season: https://www.nbcsports.com/olympics/news/figure-skating-tv-schedule-2025-26-season-grand-prix-series-how-to-watch Entrants for the Grand Prix: https://www.usfigureskating.org/news/press-release/team-usas-2025-grand-prix-assignments-announced
  14. For those who can't get enough weightlifting, the Para Powerlifting World Championships in Cairo are happening now and, at least in the USA, are streaming live on the Paralympic Youtube channel.
  15. (Results to come here)
  16. I'm new to following Beach Volleyball, and I'm trying to figure out the important competitions in the year. I see there's WCh coming up soon, but I've also seen the past few years has the Pro Tour Finals. 2023 had both Pro Tour Finals and WCh...but this year, I only see WCh. Did they get rid of the Finals this year?
  17. So, there's apparently a Grand Finale invitational event in Fukuoka later this month (top teams sending a few athletes each) on top of a Para event at the same time...but I now have my doubts. The original announcement only listed a few para classes, but this announcement indicates that all classes are now open. Also, with Canada getting a last-sec invite (seemingly due to a cancellation by a nation), is there low interest? Additionally, the Registrations page used to have who had registered from each country for the Grand Finale event (because I was surprised to see Brooke Raboutou for USA). Now, no registrations show up. On the Para event, only a few Japanese athletes show up. My final piece of evidence is that on the IFSC main page, it doesn't even appear on the upcoming events, just the Laval Para event (that is curiously scheduled on the same day, and has been there). Thoughts?
  18. How we did in Montreal 1: Men: 500m - Andrew Heo and Brandon Kim made the QF 1000m - Clayton De Clemente made the Repechage SF 1500m - Brandon Kim finished 7th in the B Final. Andrew Heo made the SF. Relay - Didn't make the SF. Finished 2nd in the Ranking Finals (so 10th overall) Women: 500m - Corinne Stoddard with the Bronze, Kristen Santos-Griswold finishing 1st in the B Final (so 6th overall). 1000m - Again, Stoddard with the Bronze. KSG went out in the QF. 1500m - Stoddard with a third bronze. KSG in 6th. Kamryn Lute also made the SF. Relay - Didn't make the SF. Finished 1st in the Ranking Finals (9th overall). Mixed Relay: Made it to the B Finals and DNS (so 8th). It's obvious who our top two athletes are. Hopefully the men can start seeing some better results, too.
  19. Not used to seeing Marchand come in 2nd in the breast!
  20. Updated Post 2 with Results. Womens 1000 and 1500 had the same podium. Medal Count at Montreal 1: Federation Gold Silver Bronze Total Rep. of Korea 3 4 0 7 Canada 3 1 3 7 Netherlands 1 2 0 3 China 1 1 2 4 Italy 1 1 1 3 USA 0 0 3 3
  21. Stoddard looking good with three bronzes. KSG left without a medal this time...but we'll see you next weekend!
  22. Vincent Hancock with his 5th individual skeet World Championship gold medal (to go along with his 4 Olympic gold medals). Congrats!
  23. They (whoever 'they' is) should create an Olympic sports subscription package that lets us Olympic fans watch all the Olympic sports with just one subscription.
  24. At least with these, speaking of money, I can watch it freely on YouTube, vs. other sports like curling and archery, where everything is behind a paywall.
