Trials this weekend!

In this format, is it strictly based on time? I was watching the highlights and I saw them giving out sprint and climber bonuses like in cycling...what are those for? Edit: I think I found what I needed...something about the overall Tour de Ski rankings. This is similar, then, to road cycling, yes? (I'm new to both.)

For Table Tennis, there's also a 'World Cup' (as the event for Mixed Teams is called) for Men's and Women's Singles at the end of March/beginning of April: https://www.ittf.com/tournament/3379/MWC_WWC_Macao2026/ Perhaps this also has the same status as the Mixed Team event and should be considered?

Just realized that there are no 50km or Relay races in the World Cup season leading up to the Olympics, and the 50k is only contested once in March in Norway. (I'm new to following Cross-Country skiing, but I would have thought athletes would have had some 'warm-up' competitions before the Olympics during the season. Also, I could be wrong...but I didn't see these events in the WC schedule.)

Mikaela Shiffrin off the podium today (Edit: Oops...I thought this was slalom, not Giant Slalom.). Nina Astner entered the 2nd run in 30th place, but had the best second run, jumping up 18 places to 12th.

Tough morning for W Giant Slalom...almost 30% of the field DNFed.

Ouch for China, losing Gold in three disciplines, not even making to GMM in one...all in front of a home crowd.

Japan just had their nationals and announced their team: https://www.olympics.com/en/milano-cortina-2026/news/figure-skating-japan-team-announcement-milano-cortina-2026 The Miura/Kihara pair withdrew from nationals due to her dislocated shoulder, but because of their record during GP, they had no trouble being selected, and are definitely in medal contention. As for the women, it was Sakamoto, Chiba, and Nakai who made the cut. (I was rooting for Nakai...love her Wonderful World routine.)

Wright with 2 misses, ends up 7th, only 44 secs behind. Hopefully he can shoot a little cleaner in the future. Good work! Got post 2 updated with all the results from the weekend.

Again with a medal for Vonn . She seems to be the real deal still. No worse than 4th this year.
