Also Canada dropped out of the mixed relay today. Not sure if they will try for that. But if they do, they can name up to two more.

So as of this moment Canada has 50 athletes. Up to 69 athletes can qualify. Will be an intense last couple of weeks of qualification!

Canada was winning 3-3 (on Senshu) but received a penalty in last 3 seconds for stepping out. which annuls the Senshu. a draw was enough for the Netherlands to qualify. the match ended 3-3 draw and Netherlands qualified. (alongside KSA and Georgia)

they awarded the women's medals but then right before the award ceremony they called both of those guys to the Tatami telling them to fight those last 3 seconds again because Canada apparently made a protest and they found out the Canadian Karateka wasn't out of bound. Canada ended up winning 3-3 on Senshu.
  8. Thanks

That is correct. He hit 74.06... should give him a few more points in the rankings. He will need a bigger throw + nationals win with a throw over 75+ to qualify it looks like.

    History for Liechtenstein.

A microstate qualifying in an event like this (with fully home-grown athletes) is rocket science, but apparently possible.

Malik Metivier just ran a 49.26 in the 400m hurdles, which gives him a score of 1202. Only off by .36 to qualify automatically, but if he can't hit that, if he can score 2-3 more races like this, he will be well into a qualification position. What a pleasant surprise!

Strycova from Czech Republic who is third in the doubles rankings retired so that should bump dabrowski back into the top ten.

If both Romania/Colombia are banned + CHina does not compete in 64 kg women and 96 kg men, then  stands a good chance of winning two medals and possibly even 2 golds, which would be incredible for this sport.

64kg Deng Wei is not selected because of her injury and absence of the public trial ACh. It’s unlucky but unsurprised.

I think that's unlikely. there are 2 guys above him and removing only Colombia won't be enough. I think Albania will take that Asian unused quota.

and Poland will go if they really ban Colombia. Canada will be next if someone gets injured or banned. which is always possible in this sport.

I don't think Canada can receive the host unused quota. (even if one is available in this weight) that's for countries "not represented yet"

this is interesting, when I was reviewing things, there were no chance for ZWARYCZ but now it seems he has a pretty good chance. I'm quite sure he wouldn't even think about going to Tokyo in his wildest dreams  this qualification system does wonders. Poland may have 3 male weightlifters in Tokyo after all.

    Tennis update

    Looks like we will have 4 men in the singles competition! Raonic, Shapovalov, Auger-Aliassime and Pospisil;
Two in the women's singles: Andreescu and Fernandez

Doubles Men: Shapovalov/Pospisl will likely team up. Not sure if Auger-Aliassime/Raonic will team up, but that is the only way they can play doubles
Doubles Women: Dabrowski/Fernandez I think is a lock. After my post yesterday, I read that singles rankings can be used to determine entrants into doubles.
Mixed: Dabrowski and Auger-Aliassime? Their ranking has to be combined highest 16 that have entered to play.

So overall 7 tennis athletes for Canada. Hoping Raonic/Andreescu actually go.

    4 is the maximum actually

    but from what I see 76, 64 and 55 are 100% guaranteed.
59 is 2nd in line for the Pan American quota behind USA. but USA has 4 weightlifters in top 8 in other weights. so yes I think Canada is 99.99% guaranteed maximum 4 quotas .
