intoronto got a reaction from Ted in Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Sports Programme
Probably due to the WC proposal every 2 years.
Making surfing permanent almost excludes any inland host. For Example Toronto cannot host surfing and I'm sure other cities are in the same boat.
And great just what the Olympics needs... more judged sports.
Can't wait for @phelps response

Ok with climbing (only in separate events version ofc), let say ok with skateboarding (atractive and quite spectacular to watch (Park)) but Surfing ??? come on, why ? Never saw more boring thing in whole my life than that thing in Tokyo...

List of core sports, as of 2028, with new additions in bold:
Aquatics Archery Athletics Badminton Basketball Canoeing Cycling Equestrian Fencing Field hockey Football Golf Gymnastics Handball Judo Rowing Rugby Sailing Shooting Table tennis Taekwondo Tennis Triathlon Volleyball Wrestling Climbing Surfing Skateboarding
As of the 2028 Olympics Boxing, Modern Pentathlon and Weightlifting are no longer "core" sports. Their place have been taken by Climbing, Skateboarding and Surfing, who are now permanent parts of the Summer Olympics.
There will be a "pathway" for Boxing, Modern Pentathlon and/or Weightlifting to be included as "core" sports for 2028, and of course the OC could propose them.

beat in the first semi-final and beat in the second semi-final.
And just in, the result of the first final: has qualified for the Olympics in curling for the first time ever, thanks to a 6-5 win over . Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt went an impressive 7-0 all tournament and will now go to the Olympics. If John Morris doesn't win the Canadian mixed doubles Olympic trials he will go to the Olympics as a coach for Australia.

ISU released official quota distribution form. One difference from my own version, there are 57 men and 55 women! Gender imparity and Bach is watching you.

and both won their pools and are each one game away from the Olympics.
Two very different stories here - is trying to make it's Olympic debut in Curling while is trying to keep it's streak of participating in every Curling event since the sport was re-introduced in 1998 alive. is the only other country with that distinction.
and qualified for the semi-finals from pool B - South Korea is in Australia's bracket while Finland is in USA's bracket. In pool A , , and are still fighting for the two remaining semi-final spots. - play later this afternoon in what is a de-facto quarterfinal match.

Spoke with the ISU. The quota simulation is how the current standings are without looking at the rules. So basically what @NearPuphad calculated before this quota file was discovered is the correct way of calculating.

Baffling they release the ranking in that fashion then…

If a sex shop was going to sponsor an Olympic sport, curling makes sense.

Don’t forget Canada, another country to watch closely.
I just can’t see any scenario where Canada doesn’t announce a full boycott by November 2021. Erin O’Toole will surely be prime minister by then.

Let's not get too dramatic... China been taking revenge on Lithuania since 2008 Olympics and Lithuanian's stand to support Tibet. Loud threats and accusations, but no real damage, as this time is Lithuania supporting Taiwain.

Some considerations about the first Junior Pan American Games. After fighting for the top spot for most of the Games (with Colombia ahead of Brazil at some moments), comfortably took the lead in the last two days to finish with 11 more gold medals compared to . In fact, the host nation almost lost the second position by the end.
didn't send teams in Athletics and Swimming, but still managed a pretty good result, surpassing in the last day of competition. I'm sure that was not what Mexico expected, but they still had an amazing showing here winning the most medals among all nations (sadly, almost half of those were silver).
While Mexico still isn't a Olympic powerhouse compared to , they seem to have cemented their place as the best Central American/Caribbean nation in continental competitions. as the third best South American nation behind Colombia isn't exactly surprising, but I expect a better showing from them at the main Games in 2023.
Worth noting is getting their best ever position in 7th, they're certainly on the rise - of course most nations here gained a position at the medal table thanks to the non-interest of . also did great and maybe that's a good sign they will return to win gold medals at the next Pan Am Games.
31 medalling nations is similar to what we see at Pan American Games (in fact, equal to Lima 2019 and Toronto 2015). Didn't win a single medal:
