  1. Looks like our athletics team will be really small, like 20~ or so athletes.
  2. What has Azerba*jan done ? (Sorry I am out of the loop on this one, and genuinely do not know)
  3. This all but assures Russia cannot qualify directly through the WR for the 2026 Olympics correct?
  4. Apparently Panamsports will be approving them this week
  5. I think it depends. I don't think there should be a rash decision atm. I think take it day by day and decide. Obviously we need to be cognizant of our Ukranian delegation competing here.
  6. Some tidbits: Surfing maintains its quota of 88 (pretty much same qualification system in 2019) Weightlifting is surprisingly up to 140 quotas (from 126~ in 2015 and 2019). The program will match Paris 2024, so 10 events total.
  7. Canada had a lot of bad luck at these games. 26 medals is a good result (tied with 2010 for second highest ever, but down from 4 years ago's 29). 4 gold medals is a disaster. Own the Podium's goal is to be the #1 nation in winter sport (sadly I think this means overall medals, not necessarily golds) by 2030 or 2034. In 2016, the OTP and the national federations realized not funding the future would eventually come to a games where Canada struggled, and these would be those games. Besides snowboarding, all NF's likely did not meet their goals for these games. The future does sort of look bright? But if Canada wants to own the podium, it will need to win medals in the nordic disciplines. A review is currently underway which could see all four Nordic Nf's merged under one banner, which tbh would be smart at this point. I hope this is just a blip in the radar for Canada and in 2026, we bounce back.
  8. Here is an update to Canada's 2022 Commonwealth Games team Canada can only enter a max of 130 athletes (minus para sport) across these sports at Birmingham 2022: Athletics, Aquatics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Lawn Bowls, Squash, Triathlon, Wrestling These sports are open qualification: (3x3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Hockey, Rugby Sevens, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, and all para events). - These are all sports Canada has qualified in, with more quotas possible in the individual events. Here are the quotas for these sports Athletics: 31 Badminton: 8 Boxing: ?? Cycling: 16 (a reduction of 2 from 2018). Canada will not compete in mountain biking or the team pursuit events in track. Gymnastics: 13 Diving: ?? Judo: 9 (looks like an A team is going) Lawn Bowls: 10 Squash: 4 (increase of 2) Swimming: 23 Triathlon: 6 Wrestling: 12 132/146 used.
  9. I am sorry you find these sports boring, but are a huge fan of gymnastics? With all due respect, that is pretty laughable.
  10. Alpine skiing I only have one comment: The FIS/teams etc. need to take the combined seriously. This a classic and I hope it survives the cut for future games. Having skiers race h2h on a 25 second parallel course does not sound like a fair compromise tbh. Final verdict: Keep the program the same. If parallel slalom is a must, add it as a event instead of replacing an event currently on the program. Biathlon This sport is really under the radar. Very exciting and I wouldn't change a thing. The single mixed relay is not necessary for this sport. Bobsleigh The monobob had all athletes use the same technology for their sleds, and surprise the Germans did not medal. This needs to be replicated across all events on the bobsleigh program. I would also add in the men's monobob as well, and reduce the max. number of sleds to 2 per event. Cross-country skiing Nothing in particular here. The program is fine as is. Curling The depth in curling is something else. Arguable the winter sport with the most depth? I think the mixed doubles field can easily expand to 12-16 teams without jeopardizing the quality of the competition. Pools would be necessary if this were to happen. Figure skating The scoring system in the team event needs to change. Its too predictable as it stands, and medalists can be figured out well before the end of the event. Not sure what the answer is here. Freestyle skiing Mixed team aerials has to go. What an utter joke of an event by the IOC to gift China a gold medal (what an epic fail btw lol). I think its definitely gone for 2026. Most likely a mixed team ski cross will replace it. It is also finally time for dual moguls to make it onto the Olympic program. Hockey I think the system in the men's tournament is dumb. Having all 12 teams have a shot at the medal round defeats the purpose of the round robin. Have the top 8 advance and face off in a 8 team bracket. Simple. Luge Really can't do anything to this sport. I think it should remain the same for 2026. If women's doubles is added, we will likely see the other three events suffer severe quota cuts. Nordic Combined No comment Short track speed skating This sport is very exciting, and I think it could use with another individual event per gender. No clue what though. Skeleton No comment, though the mixed team event is likely on the program for 2026. Ski Jumping A women's large hill competition is likely to be added for 2026. Snowboarding WTF was that mixed team snowboard cross event? It has potential, but needs tweaking. A seeding run is needed too. Speed Skating Team sprint should be added.
  11. I am back. I just needed to avoid the last week of the Olympics as they were going bad for Canada. I am here and ready for the road to Paris 2024.
  12. Only Canada can have athletes win a medal at every stop of the preceding seasons World cup but not medal at the Olympics. What a joke!
  13. I am officially done here. CANNOT take anymore disappointment. See you in Paris!
  14. I just came here to comment on this lmao!! Their off broadcast comments are gold. "The Dutch are too arrogant" "The Dutch are dumb if they didn't give a 100%"
  15. Two new Canadian Indoor records ! https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/another-canadian-track-record-gabriela-040929691.html and https://runningmagazine.ca/sections/runs-races/aurora-rynda-breaks-canadian-600m-record/
