  1. 16 per event. Also more women than men allowed to compete.
  2. Sailing qualification system will be available tomorrow. @mrv86 All events have 8 or 9 entries except the laser events. So probably means we should a trickle of info
  3. This edition was supposed to be the end of this system, with 2026 to have qualifiers across the board. However not sure if this has changed with the CGF dropping all core sports minus athletics and swimming

  7. Yes that is what I meant, India probably has the depth to send a B team and be competitive. Malaysia, perhaps not.
  8. Final field hockey teams confirmed: http://fih.ch/news/lineup-confirmed-for-birmingham-2022-commonwealth-games/ Women: Australia, Canada, England, Ghana, India, Kenya, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Wales Men: Australia, Canada, England, Ghana, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Wales Malaysia declined quotas for both events, I suspect due to the Asian Games being close by. India on the other hand probably had the depth to send a B team here. 9 countries will be represented in both tournaments.
  9. Eritrea is also run by a dictator... not too surprising. Some call it the 'North Korea of Africa' Also a lot of X's on the board. Grow a backbone and decide one way or another.
  10. Ecaterina Guica has retired officially.
  11. Looks like our athletics team will be really small, like 20~ or so athletes.
  12. What has Azerba*jan done ? (Sorry I am out of the loop on this one, and genuinely do not know)
  13. This all but assures Russia cannot qualify directly through the WR for the 2026 Olympics correct?
  14. Apparently Panamsports will be approving them this week
  15. I think it depends. I don't think there should be a rash decision atm. I think take it day by day and decide. Obviously we need to be cognizant of our Ukranian delegation competing here.
  16. Some tidbits: Surfing maintains its quota of 88 (pretty much same qualification system in 2019) Weightlifting is surprisingly up to 140 quotas (from 126~ in 2015 and 2019). The program will match Paris 2024, so 10 events total.
  17. Canada had a lot of bad luck at these games. 26 medals is a good result (tied with 2010 for second highest ever, but down from 4 years ago's 29). 4 gold medals is a disaster. Own the Podium's goal is to be the #1 nation in winter sport (sadly I think this means overall medals, not necessarily golds) by 2030 or 2034. In 2016, the OTP and the national federations realized not funding the future would eventually come to a games where Canada struggled, and these would be those games. Besides snowboarding, all NF's likely did not meet their goals for these games. The future does sort of look bright? But if Canada wants to own the podium, it will need to win medals in the nordic disciplines. A review is currently underway which could see all four Nordic Nf's merged under one banner, which tbh would be smart at this point. I hope this is just a blip in the radar for Canada and in 2026, we bounce back.
  18. Here is an update to Canada's 2022 Commonwealth Games team Canada can only enter a max of 130 athletes (minus para sport) across these sports at Birmingham 2022: Athletics, Aquatics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Lawn Bowls, Squash, Triathlon, Wrestling These sports are open qualification: (3x3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Hockey, Rugby Sevens, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, and all para events). - These are all sports Canada has qualified in, with more quotas possible in the individual events. Here are the quotas for these sports Athletics: 31 Badminton: 8 Boxing: ?? Cycling: 16 (a reduction of 2 from 2018). Canada will not compete in mountain biking or the team pursuit events in track. Gymnastics: 13 Diving: ?? Judo: 9 (looks like an A team is going) Lawn Bowls: 10 Squash: 4 (increase of 2) Swimming: 23 Triathlon: 6 Wrestling: 12 132/146 used.
