  1. This was the funding situation for Ski Jumping Canada vs the rest of the sports. I think a medal will definitely help!
  2. I'm debating whether to stay up and watch the Biathlon and cross country skiing
  3. https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2000393283723 Max and Mark's medal ceremony
  4. Fontana's scream wasn't in celebration as much as it was a release of the anger she's been carrying since returning from a year's break after the 2018 Olympics. Fontana won gold four years ago, but it was made clear that her husband and former U.S. short track skater, Anthony Lobello Jr., wasn't welcome as her coach. "I'm kind of overwhelmed with a lot of different emotions — happy, relieved," Fontana said. "I don't usually yell, but it was a way to let it out, all that anger." Italian federation officials passed Fontana in the hallway after her victory and didn't offer congratulations. "I wasn't looking for them to come up to me," she said. "It's actually better if they stay away." https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/winter/short-track-speed-skating/olympics-short-track-speed-skating-canada-beijng-olympics-1.6339243 lol why does this only happen to Italy!?!
  5. Elena Gaskell announced that she tore her ACL (not sure if this is different from the reason why she withdrew from the big air). She is out of the games.
  6. Sadly the NF was on the brink of bankruptcy and decided to stop funding athletes. There was a couple young athletes but both retired because of no funding. Can't see it returning any time soon, if ever...unless Canada hosts again.
  7. There have been attempts to revive it over the years and nothing ever comes out of it. As recently as 2020: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/thunder-bay-steve-collins-ski-jumping-1.5801567
  8. This sport was DEAD, literally DEAD after this cycle. The athletes had to move to Slovenia to even train with Calgary's jumps closing. HOLY FUCK this is huge. If you told me Canada would win a ski jumping medal, but not in figure skating I'd have laughed at you
  9. This is BS. China purchased another medal. Literally can't win a medal unless its judged.
  10. Japan needs an 18 point jump over Canada in the last round to win bronze, and Canada's best jumper is jumping last. Fingers crossed.
  11. A lot of the teams got dq's so its all by luck, but a medal would do wonders.
  12. Still two jumps to go, but into bronze medal position in the mixed team ski jumping
  13. Jpg incorrectly dqd. Dion falls...what a nightmare. Canada loses its 4th gold medal it won in 2018. What's left: 2 man Bob (unlikely), Ice dance (impossible), 10000 speed skating (unlikely).
  14. The Big Air venue is physically in Beijing....not in one of the two snow sports clusters.
  15. BBC says the judges missed a knee grab from Parrot in his second run and was over scored. Not sure what to think
  16. Chinese social media in complete meltdown mode because of the slopestyle result, pointing out the Canadian judge marked him the lowest, not realizing each judge grades each of the 6 sections. *Face palm*
  17. lol :P was going by what Craig McMorris said. Lets say first male gold medalist in snowboarding. ----- Max Parrot is also a cancer survivor, what an amazing result for him.
