Qualification Tracker

  1. Louis Oosthuizen won't go to Tokyo, so Bezuidenhout qualifies anyway.
  2. Sergio García will not go to Tokyo and he will be replaced by Rafa Cabrera-Bello. At least, Jon Rahm will be there and hopefully getting the first ever Olympic golf medal for Spain.
  3. Women's double haven't been announced yet, but I think they will try Garbiñe Muguruza-Carla Suárez (if it's enough to qualify, which I am not sure) and Paula Badosa-Sara Sorribes.
  4. Feliciano López, Jaumen Munar, Carlos Alcaraz and Marcel Granollers will not go to Tokyo, so we will only send 3 male players (Roberto Carballes would go if there are a lot of withdrawals).
  5. This team sucks. These two games against Sweden and Poland are the most boring football games I remember in the last few years. Now we need to win against Slovakia to advance and considering who are our forwards, I am not confident at all.
  6. If he withdraws, which is likely but not sure, I am quite sure that he wouldn't be the last player refusing the quota.
  7. 1. 15 sports: Athletics, basketball, handball, boxing, football, golf, judo, karate, canoeing, taekwondo, tennis, shooting, sailing, swimming and waterpolo. 2. Jessica Fox
  8. I am disappointed with the results. I was expecting to qualify. They had a very creative routine and deserved more.
  9. This is what happens when the Spanish federation prefers having 5 athletes instead of 4 and some chances to get a medal... By choosing +109kg, they are expecting Armenia to pick Simon Martirosyan in -109 instead of Gor Minasyan, so Marcos qualifies through ranking and Spain gets the continental quota in -67kg with Acorán Hernández.
  10. Carolina Marín will be replaced by Clara Azurmendi from Spain (reallocation after only giving 2 Tripartite slots instead of 3) and there are two more countries with a better ranking than Poland: and , so I think you need another player to drop out apart from and .
  11. This is a difficult one, but I would say that the most underrated is Maialen Chorraut (canoeing). She won the gold medal in Rio, bronze in London and is, alongside Rafa Nadal, the only of our 7 gold medallits in Rio that can defend her title in Tokyo. She also has a daughter, which makes it even more deserving, but she is not popular at all in Spain compared to other recent medallists. I don't think we have an overrated Olympic Medallist in Spain, at least none than I can remember now. Maybe Fermín Cacho, but his gold medal in Barcelona 92 was very iconic, so I wouldn't say that overrated is the right word to use to describe him.
  12. Cintia Rodríguez Artistic Gymnastics - Knee injury
  13. European Cup 10.000m Carlos Mayo 27:25.00
  14. Do have any chance to get a reallocation in the men event through the 2019 Worlds if wins the American Championship next week?
  15. We had the same situation in Rio and the criteria used to rank the QF losers were the points obtained by each athlete in that round. In this case both Slovakia and Estonia got 2 points, but the score of adding all the arrows is higher in the case of Slovakia, so she gets the quota.
  16. Quotas for and because Spain has 2 girls in SFs.
  17. 1. Individual men foil (I am excited with the Spanish return in this sport after 13 years), K4 500 and men basketball. 2. for sure. The third one depends on the sport and the athlete, but I would say Central-American nations in general or 3. Rafael Nadal (tennis), Pau Gasol (basketball) and Carolina Marín (badminton). I decided to name three Spanish athletes, but if I have to choose foreign athletes I would say Usain Bolt (athletics), Valentina Vezzali (fencing) and Sebastian Brendel (canoeing)
  18. It was the case of Breanna Stewart and Marta Xargay in basketball 5 years ago.
  19. We should have won that game after being 4 points up against Japan, but the girls played extremely bad at the end. I hope none of these women represent Spain again internationally. We have dozens of players better than these, so the federation should try to convince them to play 3x3.
  20. And we won! It was easier than expected, but still a long way to get the quota.
  21. is already out and we have to beat the host to advance, which is not going to be easy at all.
  22. This should be close between boxing and weighlifting. Both are awful due to the last minute changes
