  1. We should have won that game after being 4 points up against Japan, but the girls played extremely bad at the end. I hope none of these women represent Spain again internationally. We have dozens of players better than these, so the federation should try to convince them to play 3x3.
  2. And we won! It was easier than expected, but still a long way to get the quota.
  3. is already out and we have to beat the host to advance, which is not going to be easy at all.
  4. This should be close between boxing and weighlifting. Both are awful due to the last minute changes
  5. Are they going to add a new sport every week or what? Anyways, Spain dominates padel in Europe, so we should win a few medals here.
  6. Yes, Martínez is confirmed. Vicente used to compete in -54 and he isn't good enough to get a medal in -58, unless he improves a lot in the next few weeks. The only chance would be to defeat Brangança and then be lucky with the repechage. This decision doesn't make any sense. The last results of Tortosa weren't as good as they used to be in 2017/18, but at least he had chances to get a medal.
  7. My mistake. Daniel Quesada was also considered, but in this case the federation selected Raúl Martínez. I have just edited the post.
  8. Team Spain 58 kg: Adrián Vicente 68 kg: Javier Pérez Polo 80 kg: Raúl Martínez 49 kg: Adriana Cerezo Jesús Tortosa, 5th place in Rio and the guy who got the quota, will not go to the Olympics due to his bad relationship with the Spanish federation. Oficially it's because of the low level of Jesus these last months (he had covid and was unable to train for a few weeks, missing the European Championship), but everybody knows that it's a political decision because he and his family have a conflict with the president.
  9. The Spanish team is formed by players of the 2nd 5x5 division, not even the 1st... However, they have had good results together, taking advantage of the low level in general of the sport, so hopefully they can get the spot. France is going to win this tournament and the US has some good players, so they should make it too. The last spot will be a tough fight between Spain, Australia, Italy and Hungary. I haven't seen the Australians, so I don't know if they are good or not, but Italy and Hungary have a similar level compared to us.
  10. Men 5000m Mohamed Katir, 13:08.52 in Müller Grand Prix Gateshead https://www.worldathletics.org/competitions/diamond-league/muller-grand-prix-gateshead-7147612/results/men/5000-metres/final/result#resultheader He already had the OQT in 1500m
  11. Question 1: Should national juries consisting of 2-members be allowed the right to opt-in to a voting process that guarantees that a song(s) which receive votes from both jury members will appear in the final top 12 combined list of that nation's votes? (Read above for details of the proposed method). (a) Yes (b) No Question 2: Should there be an option for a nation to co-host the contest with another nation? (a) Yes (b) No Question 3: Should co-hosting be limited to nations with a cultural and / or geographical link? (a) Yes (b) No Question 4: Regarding potential co-hosting, there should be the following restriction: (a) Limited to 2 nations (b) Limited to 3 nations (c) No limit
  12. has 5 boats: KL1, KL3, VL2, VL3 (men) and KL2 (women)
  13. TEAM SPAIN K1 200: Carlos Arévalo & Saúl Craviotto K2 1000: Francisco Cubelos-Iñigo Peña K4 500: Carlos Arévalo-Saúl Craviotto-Marcus Walz-Rodrigo Germade K1 1000: Undecided (Francisco Cubelos or Marcus Walz if they want) C2 1000: Cayetano García-Pablo Martínez C1 1000: Undecided K1 200: Teresa Portela K1 500: Isabel Contreras C1 200: Undecided (internal selection between María Cobera, Antía Jacomé and Antía Otero)
  14. In Spain Carlos Garrote, 2018 World Champion in K1 200 will miss the Olympics because we will send K4 500 + K2 1000 and he didn't make it into the K4.
  15. And.... it's another quota for Spain !!!!
  16. After the good score of Beatriz Ferrer-Salat with Elegance, what do you think of the Spanish team? 6th place in Tokyo?
  17. Ranking after Race 5: 29 points 35 points 52 points 76 points 93 points It seems it's going to be a very tough fight tomorrow between Croatia and Spain.
  18. Team Spain K1 500: Isabel Contreras K2 500: Sara Ouzande - Carolina García C1 200: María Corbera C2 500: Antía Otero - Antía Jacomé C1 1000: David Barreiro C2 1000: Tano García - Pablo Martínez The C2 events are our best chance to get some extra quotas. We already have a full team in men kayak.
  19. There have been some problems between the staff and two key players (Laura Nicholls and Marta Xargay) and they will not be part of the team this summer. Due to this, I think that a medal is going to be very difficult for us this year, so my picks are USA (gold), Australia (silver) and France (bronze). Hopefully we could avoid these teams in the QFs and get another medal. Let's see.
  20. Rankings After 3 Race : 14 Points 31 Points 43 Points 48 Points 56 Points 59 Points 64 Points 76 Points 83 Points 88 Points 111 Points 117 Points 122 Points 125 Points 146 Points The first three boats without quota are from Spain!!!
  21. Ranking after Race 2: 9 points 12 points 22 points 31 points 40 points 41 points 45 points 46 points 55 points
  22. Yes, you will probably have 2 or 3 quotas. Both women, especially Wiet-Henin, are very talented and well ranked. In men, Ravet is very young and he won the European Championship a few weeks ago, so even though in his weight there are athletes with a better ranking, he could defeat them. Chellamootoo is one of the favorites, but there a few of good athletes and only 2 quotas, so the draw will be very important.
  23. will send two women: Adriana Cerezo (-49 kg) Cecilia Castro (-67 kg) We already qualified three men through the ranking, so we cannot send more athletes. Adriana should qualify if everything goes right, and for Cecilia it will be harder, but she has some chances.
  24. I am not expecting more than 5 golds for Spain. We have a lot of decent chances to win medals (we will probably tie or even beat our record of 22 in Barcelona 92), but gold medals are very difficult for us. The biggest chance is probably Sandra Sánchez in karate, but being the Japanese her biggest rival I am not so sure if it's going to be gold or silver. We also have good chances in badminton (Carolina Marín), tennis (Nadal or the doubles), shooting (both traps and the mixed team with Fátima Gálvez and Alberto Fernández), judo (Niko Sherazadishvili), sailing (470W should be our best shot, but some gold chances also in 470M, 49er and 49er FX), canoeing (in Rio we had the surprise in slalom of Maialen beating Fox, so it might happen again with David Llorente or Nuria Villarubla. In sprint we will have some chances in men kayak in K4-500, but I think that Germany will take it), golf (Jon Rahm), taekwondo (same problem, our 3 men and Adriana Cerezo, if she qualifies this week, should get a medal, but none of them is the best of their category) and team sports (men handball, even though Denmark is the biggest favorite, and maybe men waterpolo, where we have improved a lot this cycle and we have already beaten Serbia and Croatia). In summary, I think that we will get more medals than Poland, but in golds Poland is the favorite unless we have a very good performance at the Olympics (or Poland underperforms). In the othe polls I am going with Iran and Sweden.
