  1. If he withdraws, which is likely but not sure, I am quite sure that he wouldn't be the last player refusing the quota.
  2. 1. 15 sports: Athletics, basketball, handball, boxing, football, golf, judo, karate, canoeing, taekwondo, tennis, shooting, sailing, swimming and waterpolo. 2. Jessica Fox
  3. I am disappointed with the results. I was expecting to qualify. They had a very creative routine and deserved more.
  4. This is what happens when the Spanish federation prefers having 5 athletes instead of 4 and some chances to get a medal... By choosing +109kg, they are expecting Armenia to pick Simon Martirosyan in -109 instead of Gor Minasyan, so Marcos qualifies through ranking and Spain gets the continental quota in -67kg with Acorán Hernández.
  5. Carolina Marín will be replaced by Clara Azurmendi from Spain (reallocation after only giving 2 Tripartite slots instead of 3) and there are two more countries with a better ranking than Poland: and , so I think you need another player to drop out apart from and .
  6. This is a difficult one, but I would say that the most underrated is Maialen Chorraut (canoeing). She won the gold medal in Rio, bronze in London and is, alongside Rafa Nadal, the only of our 7 gold medallits in Rio that can defend her title in Tokyo. She also has a daughter, which makes it even more deserving, but she is not popular at all in Spain compared to other recent medallists. I don't think we have an overrated Olympic Medallist in Spain, at least none than I can remember now. Maybe Fermín Cacho, but his gold medal in Barcelona 92 was very iconic, so I wouldn't say that overrated is the right word to use to describe him.
  7. Cintia Rodríguez Artistic Gymnastics - Knee injury
  8. Do have any chance to get a reallocation in the men event through the 2019 Worlds if wins the American Championship next week?
  9. We had the same situation in Rio and the criteria used to rank the QF losers were the points obtained by each athlete in that round. In this case both Slovakia and Estonia got 2 points, but the score of adding all the arrows is higher in the case of Slovakia, so she gets the quota.
  10. Quotas for and because Spain has 2 girls in SFs.
  11. 1. Individual men foil (I am excited with the Spanish return in this sport after 13 years), K4 500 and men basketball. 2. for sure. The third one depends on the sport and the athlete, but I would say Central-American nations in general or 3. Rafael Nadal (tennis), Pau Gasol (basketball) and Carolina Marín (badminton). I decided to name three Spanish athletes, but if I have to choose foreign athletes I would say Usain Bolt (athletics), Valentina Vezzali (fencing) and Sebastian Brendel (canoeing)
  12. It was the case of Breanna Stewart and Marta Xargay in basketball 5 years ago.
  13. We should have won that game after being 4 points up against Japan, but the girls played extremely bad at the end. I hope none of these women represent Spain again internationally. We have dozens of players better than these, so the federation should try to convince them to play 3x3.
  14. And we won! It was easier than expected, but still a long way to get the quota.
  15. is already out and we have to beat the host to advance, which is not going to be easy at all.
  16. Are they going to add a new sport every week or what? Anyways, Spain dominates padel in Europe, so we should win a few medals here.
  17. Yes, Martínez is confirmed. Vicente used to compete in -54 and he isn't good enough to get a medal in -58, unless he improves a lot in the next few weeks. The only chance would be to defeat Brangança and then be lucky with the repechage. This decision doesn't make any sense. The last results of Tortosa weren't as good as they used to be in 2017/18, but at least he had chances to get a medal.
  18. My mistake. Daniel Quesada was also considered, but in this case the federation selected Raúl Martínez. I have just edited the post.
  19. Team Spain 58 kg: Adrián Vicente 68 kg: Javier Pérez Polo 80 kg: Raúl Martínez 49 kg: Adriana Cerezo Jesús Tortosa, 5th place in Rio and the guy who got the quota, will not go to the Olympics due to his bad relationship with the Spanish federation. Oficially it's because of the low level of Jesus these last months (he had covid and was unable to train for a few weeks, missing the European Championship), but everybody knows that it's a political decision because he and his family have a conflict with the president.
  20. The Spanish team is formed by players of the 2nd 5x5 division, not even the 1st... However, they have had good results together, taking advantage of the low level in general of the sport, so hopefully they can get the spot. France is going to win this tournament and the US has some good players, so they should make it too. The last spot will be a tough fight between Spain, Australia, Italy and Hungary. I haven't seen the Australians, so I don't know if they are good or not, but Italy and Hungary have a similar level compared to us.
  21. Men 5000m Mohamed Katir, 13:08.52 in Müller Grand Prix Gateshead https://www.worldathletics.org/competitions/diamond-league/muller-grand-prix-gateshead-7147612/results/men/5000-metres/final/result#resultheader He already had the OQT in 1500m
