I would say it isn't that weird because songs from the 1950/60s don't do as well in TISC as more recent songs from the 1990s or the 2000s.

Regarding the 2030 World Cup, Spain and Portugal have been "forced" by UEFA to add Ukraine to the project, so I guess that at this point they will push to the end.

voted! As usual, it was tough to rank from 9th to 15th place. Maybe if I had sent my votes yesterday or tomorrow the reserves could have gotten a couple of points instead of the songs I ended up choosing.

I had my first listening on Sunday and today I had the second one. Now I am down to 17 songs and my top2 is safe. The other positions are quite open and will be decided with my 3rd and 4th listening next weekend.

ESPAÑA This is going to be the 14th participation of Spain in TISC and for the first time ever we are going to send a song in English. It is also the oldest song sent by our delegation in an Open edition. I am not the biggest fan of sending a song in a foreign language, but I am going to make an exception with this one because of the context. I can count with my fingers the English songs performed by Spanish singers/band that have become famous in the country. This was the first one, in 1966. In the 1960s, Franco's dictatorship started to show some apertureness to the outside world and British music spread quickly in the big cities. Because of this, young musicians in Madrid and Barcelona joined to form bands copying the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The fan phenomenon was born in Spain with pop and rock groups like Pekenikes, los Diablos, Fórmula V or Los Bravos. The problem of being successful for so many years is that if you do not meet some minimums, both the coach and the president of the federation would be in trouble. At least in football and in basketball, which are the two main sports in the country. I don't see the problem. It is legal to have a naturalised player in your team and this year all the top playmakers were injured or unavailable due to personal reasons (mainly Ricky Rubio and Sergio Rodríguez), so the only decent choices were to call Juan Núñez, who is only 18 and not very experienced against senior teams or call Lorenzo Brown. Spain has reached the semifinals for 10 editions in a row and the federation wants to keep this record going. There is no much difference between this case and Dorsey, where the only connection is having a parent who lived there for a few years but was fully raised in the US . Furthermore, even with Brown, who is not consistent at all, this Spanish team is quite weak after the retirement of Pau and Marc Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro or Felipe Reyes and also key players Sergio Llull and Ricky Rubio are injured...

Fellow users of Totallympics, I have been quite busy this year and I am not sure if I will be able to participate in the next edition. Therefore, it would be nice if some of you can join the Spanish delegation, especially considering that we have the hosting rights for the 2023 Annual TISC.
