my 2 cents... the slope is just for sliders, but the course setting is quite demanding (with that tricky blind turn which was missed by a lot of the top skiers and could prove really costly in the actual race)...so, there's a chance for every skier to play their cards... however, the most important (decisive) factor is the kind of snow...old artificial snow and very wet...I wouldn't be surprised to see some ski factories well ahead of some others on Sunday... and no, the track is only 2950m long, it wasn't shortened at all...

Ah, OK... thanks... I wrote that because our main Winter sports expert a few weeks ago, in one of the races in Oberhof said he has Iranian heritage... but it looks he was wrong...which is really unusual...so, now I can go and troll him on twitter for that!

the first couple of runs are not so indicative for some teams, but I think the current difference between the Austrian and the Germans is really worrying from a German perspective... however, I fear the Germans haven't used their "magical" skates they will use in only one of the training runs and then in the actual competition (it's always been their tactic)... one thing is sure, the coldest is the weather, less chances the Germans have...

I'm using my desktop and Chrome browser and the official website doesn't have any problem here...actually, it's really quick to open (which is quite surprising, remembering the awful experience back to the 2008 days -but it was another age, I must admit)...

well, the early stages are quite easy to follow... Tomorrow, I'm going to follow one of the curling matches at 1 p.m. CET (most likely, SWE vs GBR because it's on the Eurosport TV channel) and the first practice runs in the men's single luge (through the live timing if they have it, otherwise I'm gonna read the final results when they release them on the official website)... maybe I'm gonna watch a second curling match later in the evening if the commentators don't spoil the results during the live broadcast... on Thursday, I'm going to start the day with the Italian curling team debut ondemand at around 9 a.m., then some Moguls quali live and in the afternoon, the second daily match of the Italian curlers and the men's downhill (alpine skiing) 1st training run (always ondemand)... not sure I'm going to watch anything of the women's Hockey tournament...but in case, it would be USA vs FIN for sure (no chance I'm wasting time with group B matches)...

Sofia Goggia going back-to-back in the women's downhill (alpine skiing) is a no brainer, given what happened in the last couple of weeks then, Dorothea Wierer (women's biathlon), Roland Fischnaller (men's snowboard) because it would be the perfect "final chapter" of an amazing career for both our veterans and Dominik Fischnaller (men's luge) because 4 years ago he missed out on a medal for just 2/1000 of a second...and it still hurts...
