  1. Perhaps the main reason is that they didn't compete much earlier this year. People were starting to think that Americans can threat them in dressage after excellent build up and it happened as Dutch looked bad for their standards. Jumping also didn't go well at all. Jur Vrieling got disqualified in first round for the overuse of whip. Maybe that's why they couldn't win a medal because they had only 3 riders in final round.
  2. If Dutch had a bad sport then that's equestrian, no medals after getting 5 medals in Olympic events at 2014 WEG.
  3. Even at closing ceremony our commentators can't stop talking about Bolt and Phelps...
  4. They probably bought some Canadians
  5. Parade of athletes was never this long at the closing ceremony
  6. Palau time Palau had reasonably successful games. 5 athletes competed in 4 sports. Medals were always impossible, but some decent results were achieved (for the first time in history a Palauan athlete advanced from first round, and that happened twice!). ATHLETICS Rodman Teltull advanced from preliminary round after winning his heat with 10.53 (only 0.01 outside of his own NR). In his quarterfinal race he finished 8th out of 9 with 10.64. CANOEING - SPRINT Marina Toribiong was the first Palauan kayaker at the Olympics. She competed in both women's K1 events and qualified for semfinals in 200m sprint. SWIMMING Shawn Dingilius-Wallace and Dirgulbai Misech competed in 50m races, finishing 72nd and 65th, respectively. Both of them broke national records. WRESTLING Florian Temengil competed at his second Olympics (first were in 2008). He was defeated by Hungarian wrestler Ligeti in the round of 16 via technical superiority. Temengil will be the Palauan flag bearer at the closing ceremony.
  7. I'd say this was a realistic expectation in the end. Athletics is the only sport where we exceeded my expectations (didn't think that 3 medals were even possible)
  8. Nice No, it's not supposed to hurt them. Safety is the paramount of FEI so bridles are always checked after each ride. And the goal is to achieve movements with soft contact with bridle (softer contact = better scores) Ah yes, now I remember that I combined slalom with eventing too And we should know relatively soon if SVK will get the Games
  9. This is nice. Siueni Filimone will carry flag. That's their 100m runner who advanced from preliminaries but couldn't start in heats because he got injured right at the end of his preliminary run.
  10. Fiji will have their own athlete as a flag bearer! So this means that they gave up on idea of leaving Rio completely before closing ceremony because of zika, malaria, superbug, etc etc
  11. Btw, I didn't have feeling that you watched equestrian events
  12. Last thing to see is whether the USA will reach 100 Last 10 minutes of Rio 2016 competition to start
  13. I can't quite count the number of finals I watched, but I didn't watch most of the team sports. I also didn't watch some events in combat sports/weightlifting, but most of the other events I did watch. Sadly, I fell asleep early on two days so I missed some finals in swimming and athletics (including Wayde van Nikekerk's WR)... Had to watch replays then.
  14. 299 finals? I guess you didn't watch some longer finals completely?
  15. And they won only 3 medals in London, lol.
  16. It became quite clear that Mongolian wrestler was embarrassed by his coaches. He lost a medal because he celebrated too early.
  17. The previous time when Brazil challenged. Italian touched the net because Brazilian pushed his hand downwards.
  18. I think Italy got robbed with this challenge.
