  1. To be fair it's not exactly shocking following what happened at the 2019 Europeans.
  2. So much for Dujardin... https://eurodressage.com/2024/07/23/charlotte-dujardin-withdraws-2024-olympics-following-allegations-horse-abuse
  3. Very sadly, Rio 2016 Olympian Marcela Krinke-Susmelj has passed away of an early onset alzheimer's. https://eurodressage.com/2024/07/18/swiss-olympian-marcela-krinke-susmelj-passed-away
  4. Actually I see no reason why universality athletes shouldn't be able to enter two events each like it is at the WCh. Fields are quite thin as it is. Technically, they can do it, but all the OCT times are rather unsensical.
  5. Dutch player shoots on target - intentionally deflected with a head of his teammate.
  6. It's all here https://www.uci.org/paris-2024-official-documents/7G2wjha6eEyPaUGYU87low
  7. A whole load of nations has declined quotas for the women's TT. Not a very good look tbh. https://assets.ctfassets.net/761l7gh5x5an/1nlpK9E7jUlYpYDDP2ItCA/71fcbfbcfaeba962262ad9520dfe5ef8/20240709-2_Liste_des_NOC_qualifi_s_WE_2024.pdf
  8. Here are all the teams and individuals entered for the Olympic eventing. Nothing yet from Italy. Any news there? @Gianlu33 @phelps Any news on the Czech individual selection? @Jan Linha As for China we do know that Alex Hua Tian and Sun Huadong have been nominated, whilst Nicolas Wettstein and Roland Zabala will be representing Ecuador.
  9. Juliet Ramel & Buriel are going to their third Olympics together, as it was announced today. An outstanding achievement.
  10. Universality principle has gone south since they suddenly started allowing wild cards in only a few different events. Until recently NOCs could select basically anyone (except 3000 m s'chase, 10000 m, combined events and 50 km walk).
  11. Karin Donckers and Isabell Werth got selected to compete in her 7th Olympics. Both made their debuts in Barcelona 1992.
  12. I haven't been in the loop lately, especially not in jumping, but still I suspect any medal for Canada would be a large surprise. Karl Slezak & Hot Bobo may be able to deliver a nice top 10 or something on a good day.
  13. Mary Hanna will be the traveling reserve. Should she get on the team, she would become the oldest athlete in Paris (as she had been already in both Rio and Tokyo). First all-women jumping team at the Olympics since the Sydney 2000 team.
  14. Meanwhile, Juan Antonio Jimenez Cobo earned a very deserved nomination and is set to be the oldest athlete at 65.
  15. Well for dressage there was a reasonable explanation at the end (weighted average scores). It's the eventing I'm baffled about. Okay, Loach & Golden Eye may be lacking some consistency, but Traisnel & Bacyrouge missing out is pretty insane.
  16. :Estonia received this reallocation in jumping. Incredibly, all three Baltics will be represented in jumping .
  17. U tijeku su relokacije u slalom kanuu. Dosta žena će startati obje discipline pa se otvaraju kvote. Možda se posreći Katji Bengeri.
  18. First cyclist to compete for Liechtenstein since 1992 (when they entered both road and track cycling).
  19. And she carried the flag at the Opening ceremony (aged 16).
  20. Looks like Bhutan will break the ice and compete in athletics for the first time. Other than that, these nations have competed in marathon in the past, but not really since the 1980s and 1990s. I guess marathons are reverting back to large number of flags like it was back in the day, since the World Athletics made it a preferred event for the universality spots.
  21. Nothing spells 'universality' like the underprivileged nations of the Netherlands and Australia grabbing OIympic quotas.
