  1. TBH Australia doesn't have a great breastroke leg either, but maybe Canada goes with Pickrem....
  2. That was a National Record for Canada in the relay right?
  3. I honestly don't think the Canadian teams were mentally prepared for the tournament and I really think that falls on the federation for not preparing them enough. I'm also perplexed to how the teams brought coaches from the national team as opposed to their own coaches, but that may be me not understanding curling culture.
  4. Amazing that we've managed to do as well as we did with under-performing in the curling events. I don't follow curling other than the Olympics, I wonder what the federation's strategy will be going forward since clearly something went totally wrong here. The men at least played decent for most of the tournament. I am still super impressed with the ski cross, I've watched the women's race several times now, they ran such a smart race!
  5. Yikes! Not the best day overall, but the two short track medals (although the bronze in the relay is disappointing since they made the one error) and the ski cross qualification. I'm also pretty stoked about Valerie Grenier's 6th place finish in the combined. Very positive result for a 21 year old when our alpine program needs a bit of a boost.
  6. Hopefully there’s also a good night at short track tonight. It’s been a fairly good meet for Canada so far so let’s end with a bang. A little bit disappointed by the women’s team pursuit not getting the bronze but I am extremely surprised that they even made it to that point.
  7. There’s also the women’s team pursuit skating for a medal tonight, a few more possibilities between the mass start and de Haitre in the 1000m in long track as well. Plus 2 Canadians in the men’s ski halfpipe, the men’s curling team and Jasey-Jay just won a World Cup event. So there are possibilities to end with a bang.
  8. I'm optimistic that those medals will come in other events. I have a good feeling about a few that may bump us up to over 26, even if we are limited to one in curling and hockey.
  9. 2 golds last night, here I was thinking there was no way we could hit the 10 gold from Sochi and now its looking like it'll happen. Only 7 more medals till we hit the 26 total!
  10. There's an article about her here: https://sports.yahoo.com/bad-american-skier-games-system-make-olympics-070235305.html
  11. Do we think Humphries is playing mind games with her training runs or she actually had an off day?
  12. Weird that there is only 3 medal events today, but Canada has a decent shot in 2 of them. Lots can happen in the 500m speed skating though. A little bit disappointed that Rochon finished 5th, I definitely prefer the slopestyle best of 3 runs as opposed to the elimination all or nothing (for aerials, moguls works just fine). But a medal for ABM and the women's curling team finally pulling it together were highlights.
  13. The Wikipedia article showed it as a bracket though...
  14. I don't really get why there was any reason to doubt Horman pre-tournament if she had such a pedigree. But if they did they were clearly onto something. The look the coach gave Cheryl Bernard at the end of the game makes me think she's about to get subbed in. There's going to be intense pressure on right now.... I think its too late. I know Slopestyle skiing and short track are unpredictable but I have hope. I also wish Patrick Chan a good skate to probably end his career, we all know he's not in medal contention, but it will be great to see him go out on top.
  15. This is very bad! I don't follow curling regularly but I'm absolutely shocked this is the team we sent, they seem to be completely inept. At what point do we sub in Cheryl Bernard, I don't even know how much better she'll be but still.
  16. I mean a 7th and 8th place busy compared to Sochi. It’s a better type of busy eh?
  17. Tomorrow there's also the women's 5000m in Speed Skating and the men's 15km Freestyle in Cross Country that Canada has at least an outside shot in.
  18. I decided to not wake up this morning for the events but its a great thing to wake up to! Ted-Jan Bloeman won gold in the men's 10000m and Team Luge won silver!
  19. I think the pairs medal may bit a bit much to wish for. I think our best medal hope tomorrow is Ted-Jan Bloeman in the 10,000m. But looking good in the Luge and I would not rule out the Men's Snowboardcross either.
  20. Now that I think about it I worked with some Korean people when Yuna won silver in 2014 and they were definitely in a meltdown mode when that happened.
  21. Apparently Kim Boutin is getting death threats: https://olympics.cbc.ca/news/article/canada-kim-boutin-receives-death-threats-after-winning-short-track-bronze.html
  22. It was a good day overall. De Haitre really didn't look good at all, luckily his foot will probably be healed by the time the 1000m roles around on the 23rd.
