The term "group immunity" is introduced by Boris in Chinese media. And the media interpret it as first 60%-70% people infected and then gradually stop spread by huge amounts of antibody. If I understand it correctly, those vulnerable are already dead during this process, only those strong enough are left, more like an evolution process. On the other hand, during this process say 50% people infected with 15% are in critical condition, that means 7.5% population or 5 million people in UK need beds and medics. It's obviously over capacity. Can't imagine the picture like that.

So based on the interpretation above, Chinese media criticize countries trying to adopt "group immunity” are irresponsible and cruel. I am sure if I am misled by media and also I am curious about foreigners' opinion on it.

After a brief message exchange with @intoronto, I did this small sim about what would happen if World Rowing uses last year World Championships results to fill the remaining spots.

I ranked the boats in the order in which they finished at the World Championships for each event. If World Rowing decides to take this placing to award the quotas, then:

EVENT AMERICAS REGATTA ASIA & OCEANIA REGATTA EUROPE REGATTA FINAL REGATTA M 1x MEX USA CUB PUR PAR BER * KAZ UZB KOR THA IND         POL GRE AZE     BUL GBR ISR SRB FRA SUI     M 2x                                           AUS ARG CAN BLR         M 4x                                           NZL UKR RUS EST         M 2-                                           GBR USA POL DEN         M 4-                                           FRA GER SRB RSA         M 8+                                           NZL ROU CAN ITA         M LW 2x CAN USA *         AUS NZL CHN JPN HKG         CZE AUT       CHN POR USA FRA DEN GBR     W 1x TTO PUR MEX PAR * *   TPE KAZ VIE QAT KOR THA SGP * * DEN CZE UKR GER FRA CZE GER SWE GRE BUL KAZ NOR MEX W 2x                                           BLR POL GBR GER         W 4x                                           RUS AUS ROU FRA         W 2-                                           CHI UKR POL GER         W 4-                                           CHN IRL NZL ITA         W 8+                                           ROU CHN RUS NED         W LW 2x CAN USA GUA         AUS CHN JPN             SUI POL GER     USA RSA POL IRL
    a) Crews in green will obtain a quota in their respective event.

    b) Crews in orange are not elegible for a quota place, as according to the qualification document only the highest ranked crew may obtain a place for its NOC, the exception being if both finished in first place, as is the case for both  and  in lightweight double sculls.

    c) Cells in blue with an asterisk indicate that the continental quota for that especific event was not filled, and therefore they're reallocated to the next boat at the Final Regatta. In the case of Asia, as  obtains a place in women's LW 2x, its host quota in women's 1x gets reallocated to the continental regatta; however only four crews from Asia competed at 2019 World Champs, two places are reallocated to the final regatta, which results in  gaining an additional spot.

    d) Crews in lime green, namely  will have to choose between those three boats; in my opinion, since they are will qualify in women's LW 2x, the decision will come between the men crews; however, they likewise will obtain a place from a reallocated quota in men's lightweight double sculls, so if they plan to send as many boats as possible, they'll stick with their place in men's sculls. Those in lime green & italics will then benefit from the quotas USA discards.

    e) Crews in yellow are the two first reserves in their respective events.

Finally I'd like to remind, that this is only a simulation, based on my interpretation of they rules in the scenario 2019 World Championships are used to select the boats.

So yeah, since last night I have had fever, headache, soarness in my muscles and ligaments and a runny nose. I haven't had any respiratory issues. My symptoms are not that severe at the moment. I slept around 3 hours last night and today around noon I slept for 3 hours. According to our health authoritiesl I shouldn't call them unless my symptoms get more severe in the upcoming days or I get any respiratory issues. I hope I haven't caught covid-19... Nevertheless, at least for the next 14 days I'm in self-quarantine in my apartment.

Most Chinese believe in the government. Because we can see the measures taken to contain the spread and effort made both by medics and government. It happened on us, not just reported by media. Most measures are very strict but effective in this special moment, like lockdown, mandatory quarantine and definitely no any forms of gathering. The cover-up at the very beginning is stupid, the shortage of medical resource of Wuhan at the early phase is troublesome and worrying, but the strong actions taken next proved working well. The virus is contained and most patients are already recovered. People outside Hubei province are back to normal life now. We experienced a silent February and everything paused for one and half month. But people think the sacrifice is worth it.

All in all, people do not fear now and things back to normal gradually. People think government did wrong at the beginning but measures taken to contain it is very effective. Considering no one knows the degree of severity and infectivity at the beginning, people think government did a good job in general.

One more thing, the reason why overseas Chinese flee back to China is that they think people overseas underrated the severity. The ignorance would lead to great outbreak later.

Beijing's daily new patients first time surpassed Wuhan today, 5 vs 4, and all are imported cases, from Spain, Italy and Thailand. So Beijing announces from 16th March, whoever enters Beijing from overseas must be mandatorily quarantined for 14 days in government arranged hotels with passengers' own expense. I guess this policy will soon be adopted by all Chinese ports. With huge amounts overseas Chinese flee back to China, preventing imported cases becomes the first priority.

As they say, one person's meat is another one's poison. Bad thing for the Greek, good thing for the Chinese (and possibly us Brazilians too, since Zanetti can still earn a medal on rings).

I think giving the points and ranking based on the qualification is a relatively fair solution. Athletes risk their health so much to compete and earn the badly needed points. I know Netherland quit the event but Zoderland chose to stay because he needed it so badly as well as other staying athletes. Their effort and risking should be paid off.

But even if Petrounias given 30 points this stage with 15.100 score is not enough to be qualify. 15.100 means it requires 15.332 next stage to surpass Liu Yang which is only theoretically possible for rings. Sad for gymnastics fans but good news for team Chinese.

Yes. There's no easy way out of this mess now. In my opinion, prize money and medals should be distributed based on the results of qualifications. Not the ideal scenario, but it's still better than nothing for the gymnasts. Points for Olympic qualification, though, is a way more complicated matter. If they award points based on qualifications, there will still be hope for Petrounias. If they cancel the results altogether, Petrounias will be out of the Olympics. Not to mention Kheika, Urara and other gymnasts who heavily relied on this stage to make it to the Olympics.

Calm down bro. It's not the first and not the last "interesting" news from US media. We are so used to it and just let it be. Let me show you something reported by NY times with 20 minutes interval which shows their attitudes towards the lockdown in Wuhan and Italy. One is violation of human right and the other is sacrificing themselves to save the Europe.
