Pechstein has now confirmed in a press conference that she will indeed continue skating for four more years. She'll turn 50 in February 2022.

Yeah, this video is only one clip of her press conference. That one chance is indeed the mass start, but she also stated that she will announce the end of her career ... in four years.

And a good chance for a third gold medal on the 1.000m on Friday!

I phrased it incorrectly. I meant a medal at two different sports at the same Winter Games. Heikki Hasu was the last man to do so.

If Colombia keeps investing in speed skating they may very well end up winning medals, they have a ridiculous depth of tallent in inline. This is a very promising start.

Huge bronze for Karolína. I am still amazed by all fantastic results this country without any speed skating venue is able to traditionally perform at the WOG

4. place for Herzog

First Dutch athlete ever competing in skeleton at WOG and she finished in 8th place. Really nice result!

I was not expecting a medal from him! Amazing result!! I'm about to cry!!!!

I think it's very clever. With the way everyone has shot this week, it is very possible that none of the top athletes will finish without a miss, to they will be able to shoot slower and go for 0 and i think in that case one of them would be bound to get through without a miss and win a medal. Maybe they also think: The later it gets, the colder = faster it gets.

Out at the bar with an American friend watching and he randomly picks the "French one" and the "Cool looking green one" while I, in my infinite knowledge of the sport go with my Canadian girls.  He ends up with gold and bronze, me silver.
