  1. Yea I agree, athletics should be the first week of competition, now that leaves no marquee sport in the first week.
  2. Swimming/Track and field have the same competition days ... that will be interesting.
  3. Laurence Fournier Beaudry / Nikolaj Sørensen formerly of Denmark now represent Canada
  4. Max Parrot announced he has cancer https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/canadian-snowboarder-max-parrot-1.4981689
  5. A 11th medal event has been added to the sailing program, and the quota increased by 20. https://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2019/01/16/additional-medal-event-pan/
  6. Not 100% certain, but it appears the baseball competition will just be in a round robin format, with the top 3 placed teams earning medals.
  7. Skateboarding will have a quota of 32 in Lima. What about BMX/MTB?
  8. Why do you think squash is a low level event? As in the quality vs rest of the world?
  9. They should drop men's softball, basque pelota, bodybuilding from the next games. Arguably all the Pan Am Sports + Olympic sports should be contested.
  10. Chile is quite good in water skiing. I dobt that happens. But the quota jumped from 6,100 to 6600 (500!) in one games.
  11. Panamsports wants to reduce the amount of sports for 2023. Goodbye bodybuilding!
  12. I brightened the picture a bit.
  13. Are you talking about the flag? It looks fine to me? Though the angle you see it from can make it look like the Russian flag lol.
  14. In Canada we barely get anything out of the main stream sports. CBC streams stuff on their website as well.
  15. Oops, it should say if both qualify through the top 4, then the NA tournament won't be held. Realistically those are the only 2 with a chance of finishing in the top 2.
  16. Derek Drouin has started to train again after a 18 month layoff due to an injury
  17. Wow, so I just saw the IOC document on events for Tokyo 2020, and the total athlete quota among the 28 core sports is: 10,616!! That means 116 spots need to be dropped first before a sport is even added. Honestly, I feel like the IOC behind the scenes has already decided that a sport won't be back as a core sport for 2024.
  18. The tournament has had 8 teams for a few cycles now. All team sports have 8 countries. Uruguay (and Brazil) unfortunately lost out to Peru who basically got a free spot in a lot of team sports. Only rugby had the sense to not give them a free pass in the men's event. At least Peru avoided Argentina in both events, or else we could have gotten another 30-0 loss (for some reason I remember DR's loss in 2003 really well, I was young at the time and thought to myself why are they hosting an event they are so bad in?) lol.
  19. Milan-Cortina bid book What do the Italians think? @phelps @Gianlu33 @Sindo We also know the games will be held between Feb 6 and 22, 2026 The gender equality crap is back in the schedule.
  20. Tokyo would have still won imo. Spain was not going to host a second summer games before France (and perhaps others) got a chance. Also at the time Spain's economy was not doing well.
  21. Greco-Roman's time is more than likely done. IOC wants full gender equality for 2024 (events, everything). There is no way you can add women's greco roman by then...
  22. Lima 2019 increased its total quota by 600+ and their budget is about half of Toronto 2015. Ie. You do not need to have a cap on athletes, but other frivolous stuff. I experienced both a Pan Am Games and Winter Olympics on the ground. Obviously the Winter Olympics are bigger globally, but do you really need two separate hockey venues? They could have merged it into one and had the competition across two weeks. Branding of venues was way over the top, if you cut that budget you would save so much money. The Summer Olympics are a totally different animal. Why is it necessary to have 7! large stadiums for soccer. All of which will need staff, volunteers, security, branding etc. Even with 4 or 5, you can have a competition where the field has enough time to recover. I can go on and on...
