  1. With Canada qualifying, that is the 6th team Canada has qualified (men and women rugby sevens, men's field hockey, women's water polo and softball). This is the most team sports qualified for Canada in one edition of the games, and with a couple more likely, probably a record team size as well.
  2. Might be a silver lining. A good performance in the group stage wilk lead to an "easier" quarterfinal and then eventually two shots at a medal.
  3. Wow group B on paper looks much stronger.
  4. @hckosice New winter Olympic sport? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/travel/activities-and-interests/the-absolutely-positively-insane-sport-of-icecanoeing/article28947992/
  5. qualified, first team sport since soccer in 2000.
  6. I was about to say the same thing. Its like Spain just picked some random kids and sent them.

  8. Congrats to and on their first winter medals...
  9. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1089018/panam-sports-esports-santiago-2023 Goodbye
  10. Wow was losing 0-2 and was dominated by Cuba, but came back and won the last three sets! Amazing.

  12. Thanks that means is out. Nvm. If Canada wins next two sets, and DR beats PUR 3-1 tomorrow, with Canada needing to beat Mex 3-0, then Canada would advance.
  13. Honestly these championships should be developmental only. They have become the FIVB of winter sports, with endless championships.
  14. I think the ISU has lost it. THe 2022 championships are scheduled to finish 5 days before Beijing 2022 starts....
  15. 12th in biathlon
  16. @Olympian1010 what is the max team size in biathlon?
  17. So apparently there is a four continents speed skating championships this weekend, only 53 athletes from 8 countries. Some countries like Kazakhstan are not competing.
  18. Canada will send 78 athletes.
  19. Nothing different than in 2022. THe 16 core sports + 3x3 basketball, cricket (women) + cycling track + diving and beach volleyball. Diving would be held in Toronto, at the Pan Am Venue, nice legacy left from those games. In 2010, they did propose a soccer tournament (something new), but that is not in this proposal.
  20. What a joke. I wonder what they will do for 2030? Canada will likely host and has not proposed shooting as a sport (I sent this is a reminder to the Hamilton bid committee but they won't budge.)
