  1. Can’t be as bad as Kelly Fitzsimmons
  2. I don’t think MacNeil will swim the women’s 100m freestyle individually, even if she reaches the OQT.
  3. Alex Rose with a huge new PB of 71.48m in men’s discus throw at the GYU Last Chance Meet! @Biathlonfan
  4. Sorry, are you predicting 22 medals for Canada, or 22+ medals?
  5. Maybe I’m bullshit on Canada’s chances, but I’d probably say even more medals than that, even if broke our record for most medals in a non-boycotted games at Tokyo with 24. With the amount of success we’ve been having, particularly in athletics and swimming we could potentially win 30.
  6. I thought I was done reporting news on Canadian athletics, but wait, there’s more Jazz Shukla, with a new PB and first sub 2:00, clocking 1:59.94 in the women’s 800m at the LA Track Fest! 0.64 off the Olympic standard, but should qualify through the rankings regardless. Also a 2:03.99 SB for Madeleine Kelly, 4:03.87 SB for Lucia Stafford and 4:05.92 SB for Simone Plourde in the women’s 1500m, 3:37.56 SB for Cameron Proceviat, I know she’s coming back from injury but 4:23.48 is concerning for Gabriella De Bues-Stafford.
  7. Squad for Worlds https://www.instagram.com/p/C6wlRUeBLlh/?igsh=bWtxdzN4ZngxcG92 Molly Simpson and Ryan Tougas in the women’s and men’s elite events.
  8. Week 1 starts on Tuesday, can’t wait!
  9. Jamaica Invitational today. So far, world record holder Amusan with a 12.40 WL in the women’s 100m hurdles ahead of world champion Williams in 12.46, and Hibbert 17.57m in men’s triple jump. Watch out for Hibbert in particular on the road to the Olympics, follow him on Instagram and from his content it looks like he has some even bigger jumps in him.
  10. @Rafa Maciel how many points does the event add towards the Olympic Ranking?
  11. Cassandra Williamson with a 0.65 PB in the women’s 800m, clocking 2:03.87 at the Big-12 Championships! https://www.instagram.com/p/C62Ox-6RBRp/?igsh=ZW9qOWYwZGd5cDdh
  12. Some big times in the women’s 400m as well. Nikisha Price moves to #2 on the Jamaican all-time list with 49.32, Kaylyn Brown with a new PB of 49.47, Amber Anning with a new PB of 49.51, and Aaliyah Butler with a new PB of 49.79
  13. Not exactly suited to this thread, but with how well Canadian athletes have been performing, Gracenote’s projected number of medals for us seem a bit off.
  14. 44.05 for Christopher Morales-Williams in the men’s 400m at the SEC Championships!! @intoronto got the meet wrong before New WL, PB, NR (as mentioned), and would’ve won gold at the last two World Championships, and silver at Tokyo 2020.
  15. For the second time in three weeks, that’s another day with 2 CANADIAN RECORDS IN ATHLETICS!! Absolutely insane. (April 20, with Leduc in the women’s 100m and Katzberg in men’s hammer throw)
  16. 44.09 PB and Canadian record for Christopher Morales-Williams in the men’s 400m at the SEC Championships
  17. According to this (pretty credible, could still be wrong) site, Mikeisha Welcome (women’s triple jump, 14.21 at her best) is representing Canada and not Saint Vincent and the Grenadines https://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?event_id=1697&do=videos&video_id=384192 @intoronto
  18. 76.53m for Rowan Hamilton in men’s hammer throw at the PAC-12 Championships! What a day for Canadian athletics (and sport in general, minus the disappointing 4-2 win over Great Britain at the Men’s Hockey Worlds of course)
  19. Also forgot to mention, Grace Tennant with a new PB of 17.15m! She’s on the bubble for Olympic qualification on the Road To Paris Rankings, so this will help her a lot.
  20. Nope, that was a mistake by me, I was looking at a Twitter list and they didn’t have LePage on it. The official Instagram for the event has confirmed that he’s entered on one of their posts.
  21. If I had to guess, probably not, but it could put her in contention if the conditions aren’t the best or a couple of the favourites have an off-day. I’d say anything sub 12.43 would definitely be guaranteed a medal.
  22. Another new NR for Samba-Mayela in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking 12.52 at the Pure Athletics Sprint Elite Meet! @Benolympique Looking like a real medal threat for the Olympics (this time probably won’t win one, but she’s been PBing left and right and only needs to shave off a couple hundredths or so)
  23. Next few meets for Ethan Katzberg have been announced (not officially, but through my research. On May 18, he’s entered in the men’s hammer throw competition at the Orlen Janusz Kusocinski Memorial, and on May 25, at the Hallesche Werfertage. Other notable events are Gotzis on May 18/19, where we’ll see Damian Warner and Pierce LePage in the decathlon, and the Atlantic City Games on May 18, as Mariam Abdul-Rashid will compete in the women’s 100m hurdles (entry lists aren’t officially out yet so there could be more Canadians in action)
