@GrassmarketNot the finest hour for BBC given the growing Gary Lineker saga

Liensberger almost 3 seconds slower than Shiffrin in 1st run. This is an utter joke. Why is she even competing this season? She has completely collapsed ever since winning the 2021 World Champs. Even Livio Magoni did nothing to solve her slump.

Paula Moltzan advances into top slalom group. Liensberger after a horrendous season finally drops out.

Here's the bomb. Bears were set to trade away #1 overall pick and stick with Fields but the question is who would make the trade happen. It's the Panthers. Let's see if they draft CJ Stroud over the undersized Bryce Young?

Gonna be a long birthday party weekend for Shiffrin. Of course Are is where she won her 1st ever World Cup event - slalom in December 2012. I believe Hansdotter led after the first run but like so many other times was forced to settle for 2nd place

Raw Air starts on Saturday. All eyes will be on next weekend in Vikersund where women will officially participate in ski flying competition for the first time in World Cup history alas only Top 15 from the Raw Air standings and only those who are 18+ years old.
It's not the first time women will jump on ski flying hill. The unofficial record jump comes from Kulm 2003 by Daniela Iraschko (200m). Anette Sagen, Lindsay Van and Eva Ganster also participated as trial jumpers in Vikersund in 2004 but distances were ca. 170-175 meters.

The shock is on.
Lech Poznań beat
Djurgardens IF 2-0 in the R16 first leg

Olympic Committee has stripped the funding for two cyclists and three tennis players for competing on the same tour as Russians. For Ostapenko it's 1,700 Euro which is laughable for her standards of WTA purse but it's bad news for the ITF-level compatriots Vismane and Semenistaja who don't make a great living playing ITFs all the time
-
Btw, also good showing for Auchentaller & Passler with Top 20/30 finishes. Weronika Nowakowska started talking too much as usual even going as far as saying how she spend holidays with Wierer twice before. Just no spicy details
-
The 1000 tournament in Indian Wells has started. Slower courts & winds increasing the DF count are to be expected. Marta Kostyuk made 17 DF in R1 loss to Rebecca Peterson. But Camila Giorgi beat Arantxa Rus and will play Jessica Pegula in R2 (for like the 4th time in the last twelve months). Top 32 seeds don't start until tomorrow.

Would be interesting if active athletes have spoken instead? Retired ones have literally nothing to lose so they can talk whatever they want to.

Ravens placed non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson so he might have played his last game in Baltimore. Let's see what he finds on the market but I doubt someone will give him 250m fully guaranteed what he wants...
Meanwhile Giants went haywire. 160 million to a guy who had 15 pass TD last season. No offense but Daboll might have to pull more rabbits out of his hat now...

And there it is. Good choice for Carr, a domed team in a "rebuilding" division plus probably the best defense he's had the entire career.

Donna Vekic wins Monterrey 250 beating top seed
Caroline Garcia 6-4 3-6 7-5 in the final.
All came down to break point conversion, Vekic 3/3, Garcia 2/16

That is some big ass trophy for a ITF W60 tournament! WTA would be proud. Who says Slovakians can't go big in life (outside of hockey life

Marta Kostyuk wins her first WTA title in Austin 6-3 7-5 over Varvara Gracheva in the final.
Wilson and their red dress can be proud they signed her at the right time when she can maybe make a run towards Top 30 of the rankings this season.
Obviously there was no handshake at the end given Kostyuk's previous comments.

Llopis is conscious but could be a concussion? He whacked the ground with the side of his head there.
