  1. Verbij after his race: "I had to stop instead of attempt that risky exchange, otherwise I'd also ruin his race. I'm not an asshole."

  2. I hate my work for making me miss Justine winning an Olympic title... I don't know how I would've reacted if I'd seen it live! My dad sent me a text telling me she won and I seriously thought he was joking at first Really happy for her, I just watched the race and she has really improved her shooting speed this season. Her 3rd shooting was impressive I do hope this gold medal will finally be her wake-up call but you never know with the women of this team, they are a rollercoaster.

  3. I think the IOC meeting tomorrow will confirm the qualification process for the 2024 Summer Olympics so keep an eye out for them.

  6. Krol! Also very happy for Dubreuil and Lorentzen! Surprising podium. and also in the top 10

  7. Yeah same! In the world cup's, all his 1000m races came an hour after his 500m races. His problem was that he always ran out of gas in the last lap so I felt that he definitely had a chance having full rest

  10. got two! If we convert both to Gold - which I rate at 60/40 - that will be something we have never done before

    Corruption in the IOC

Welcome. I have no doubt there are bribes & corruption, but in this case China got the Games because of a scandal in Norway (the logical candidate) related to the excessive demands of the IOC for luxury hotels, private jets, limos etc. However the problems we have this time are because IOC President Thomas Bach (Gold Medal, Fencing, 1976*) is a foolish egotistical man - not very corrupt in the normal sense - who thinks he is a globe-trotting international diplomat whose mission is to bring Peace to the World. And not what he is, a sports bureaucrat whose job it is to stage the best possible sporting competition - which is, in itself, a very worthy goal. Unfortunately this petty vanity means the world’s least attractive leaders find him very easy to manipulate * Running gag we have here.

  13. Really pleased with Marten Liiv's 7th place, he said he aims top 10 and he made it, at least 1 our athlete who reached their goal. TBH I rate this result higher than Saskia Alusalu's "4th" at PY.

  14. Thankfully GBR got 2 medals so they will participate in Milano-Cortina after all. After reading the forum, I was extremely worried that they wouldn't find the money to send a few athletes for the first time in history.

  17. Well, Norway may have broken our shared gold medal record, but Canada tied the bronze medal record today (ROC is there, too). If a certain country is ultimately DQed from figure skating, we may have already broken it. Hey, we need this!

  19. Geez, the Germans could go down the track sideways and still be top-3.

  20. I believe with Norway's gold in biathlon they've now broken the record for most golds at a WOG (previously 14).

  23. I almost screamed for medal, but its 4th place, so close and yet so far but amazing Games for Piotr, 4th on 1000m and 5th on 500m, well done!

  27. Let's be honest, the whole Olympic Movement is rotten, from the selection to the host cities, the way horses are treated in equestrian and modern pentathlon, the corrupt judging in boxing, etc., the sex abuse cases, the systemic doping (not just by Russia) there are so many problems but this is such a brazen example. The Olympic GAMES were meant to be for the love of the sport, but this is literal child abuse by unscrupulous people thinking "victory at all costs", because a gold medal is clearly worth destroying a child physically and mentally.

  30. Thank you. And it's baffling how many people still turn a blind eye to their abuses. I'm also disgusted by Viner in rhythmic gymnastics and the Deriuginas in Ukraine. How can people just pretend these people are not toxic or that there's nothing to discuss about them? There's even a whole MOVIE where Viner humiliates and disrespects Margarita Mamun, and she is just called a "tough" coach. It's just unbelievable.

  33. Estonia for sure expected a better catch than "just a bronze" from this OG from Kelly. She has gathered quite a many haters over the whole Sildaru family drama, they had a field day today. Funny how in last race a Russian and Norwegian claimed they deserved more points and should have won bronze, Kelly's coach said judges know what they are doing and the results are just right. Today he said that Kelly deserved more points and judges scores were suspicious.

  37. In a sense I agree with you but I wonder if GB really were the underdogs against Sweden. Last November the same Scotland/GB team beat the same Swedish team 8-5 in the round-Robins and 7-4 in the final of the European Championships. They then followed that up with an 8-2 win in the round-Robin in Beijing so the form line actually favoured GB.
