  2. Couldn't have asked for a better start for the LW2X. They won their heat to qualify directly for the final, finishing 4.6 seconds above Australia who will now have to race in the repechage. In the other heat, France finished 14 seconds ahead of Italy. So as of now, Greece and France are the clear favourites to qualify although I still wouldn't count out Italy as they are the defending Olympic champions. Also pleased with our LM2X, finishing second in their heat and qualifying directly for the final, just .66 seconds behind France who are the big favourites. As in the LW2X, it seems that Greece and France are the clear favourites for the quota. I am unfortunately no longer optimistic about M2X. They did okay to finish 2nd in their heat and qualify for the semis, but were 8 seconds behind USA. And with the last minute new Serbian crew, I think it will be very tough to get the quota. But let's see, anything can happen in the final. Fragkou has a very small chance in W1X and now we can pretty much kiss that quota goodbye. Finishing 3rd in her heat won't cut it, and it's a shame as I really think she could've qualified if we sent her in W2X. Hopefully she sticks around for LA and can make it, she's still only 21 yo. 3rd for our men's pair in their heat. We knew they had no chance to get a quota anyways. It'll be a huge success if they can even make the final.

  8. This, for Milica Nikolić, was her last IJF event under 48. She will compete u48, at Paris, then she will go up! (she revealed on IJF Golden Score after Dushanbe) Probably 52's? She gained 15 Grand Slam Medals (only 1 gold though) and a lot of 5th places. In 8 world championships, she placed 5th, 7th and 7th.
  9. It's a disappointing time when needs a good result just to secure a 2nd quota...
  10. Oleksandr Usyk is the undisputed Boxing Heavyweights World Champion, after winning by split decision against Tyson Fury the most anticipated match of the year in Riyad https://www.boxingscene.com/usyk-wins-undisputed-heavyweight-title-via-split-decision-victory-over-fury--183644
  11. no surprise Nima won the match (not really a match, just some warming up) 4-1 to qualify and Neda Shahsavari won the women's quota beating Mirkadirova 4-3 in a very close match. she will be the first Iranian woman to participate in 3 Olympics ! 2012, 2016 and now 2024.
  12. There is not much to focus on when McLaughlin only races about 2-3 times a year. Unless she suddenly turns up to Diamond Leagues and other competitions this season, it's going to feel really unsatisfying as a fan when she wins gold in Paris to be honest.
  13. Lots of interesting outcomes from this final. After two previous rounds of difficult low scoring lead the final sees 3 athletes touch the top hold while the highest boulder score accounts for only 2/4 tops. That lead round resulted in Lee Dohyun to take the 50 from Shanghai, putting the South Korean inches from an Olympic quota. Alberto Ginés-Lopez shows us why he’s a rightful Olympic champion with a perfect lead to get silver at the comp. An end to his best performance in the sport since his Tokyo gold medal. Adam Ondra ends up only able to use his high boulder score to get 3rd. On the other hand, rough day for Sam Avezou with a very low boulder score and a complete flop on lead, falling before getting to the first scored hold. Still, 8th is not a bad rank in the tight race for France’s two quotas.
  14. 2.04 looks like the cutoff for a medal in Paris for the 200 Fly Summer and Regan Smith lead the way Zhang Yufei has been 2.03 although not since Tokyo and it would not surprise if Dekkers hits 2.04 by Australian trials.
  15. If the history of the first two oqt’sis respected, Italy will definitely qualify. In both those tournaments the Dutch team beat the qualifying team in the group fase.
  16. I agree about MOC. She swum that 58.0 in pouring rain hitting the ropes all the way. The W100m back seems to be dominated by AUS,USA and a Canadian over the past 2-3 years its possible that 58 low wont even make an Australian or US Olympic team
  17. Oilers lead 3-1 after the 2nd period. Could’ve been worse though, late in the 2nd period, the Oilers had a two-man advantage for a minute, and then a power-play for another minute, but the Canucks killed it off. Big period coming up for the Canucks.

  21. The missing of softball and karate could be compensated by football men`s team but unfortunately we have not been able to advance to the Olympics for almost 20 years. And that's as many as 18 people. Around the turn of the century we were regularly qualifying men's football players for the Olympics + we were better at basketball. I regret that we didn't even compete in Rugby 7, as we had quite good teams in the classic formula of this sport.

  24. lost the 1st set vs despite a 24-20 lead but then they made up for that and destroyed the Hosts, winning 3-1 in the end for monster match by Vargas, but it wasn't enough against a good collective effort of our girls this win (added to those against and ) should seal the deal in terms of the Olympic qualification for us
