Best Doubles or Pair was, by far, the closest category. Any nominee could've won, in fact even O'Donovan/McCarthy led the count at some point.

Brian McKeever CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING As far as the Paralympic competitions go, isn't that unusual to see an athlete completely dominating their field, but to keep the level of excellence for two decades is for very few. Canadian cross-country legend Brian McKeever certainly will be remembered among the most dominant names ever to compete at the Winter Paralympics. Starting in Salt Lake 2002 (where he also competed in Biathlon), McKeever went on to win 16 gold medals in his career (20 total), sweeping the three events for visually impaired in four consecutive Paralympics (2010-2022). With his results, he tied the all-time record for most victories by a male at the Winter Games. His achievements, especially at the 2010 home Games, raised the profile of the Winter Paralympics in Canada, proving that his legacy will live on for generations to come. @vinipereira

Ireen Wüst SPEED SKATING Regarded as the most successful speed skater ever, Ireen Wüst first achieved a spot in the Dutch Olympic team in 2006. In Turin, she became the youngest Dutch gold medalist at the Winter Games, starting a sequence of results that would made history. Winning at least one gold medal in each of her Winter Olympic appearances, she is the only athlete to win an individual gold medal in five consecutive Olympics, Summer or Winter. Not only she is the most successful athlete from the Netherlands at the Olympics, in Beijing she also became the oldest Speed Skating gold medalist in the history of the Winter Games. "Words can't describe her class", said fellow competitor Brittany Bowe after the 1500m event at the 2022 Olympics; "she is the greatest of all-time, as her performance shows". Indeed, Wüst's career more than earned her a place in our Hall of Fame. @vinipereira

18 Totallympics members voted in the second stage so far. Closest categories are Best Female Athlete and Best Women's Team - in both, 3 nominees with about the same number of points. Not many voters for the Olympic Spirit Award, so anyone can take it. Don't forget to vote if you didn't already!
-
Either way, I hope you can vote now in second stage
-
Probably the main reason they were voted. Not because the final position, but the historical result.
-
But in all seriousness, there's really a lot of people who could have been nominated. I really expected Rayssa Leal to made the Youth Athlete list, but in the end she only had my vote - and then, of course, I remembered that Totallympics members don't care about "urban" sports
-
Yes, although Pogačar is mentioned in "Moment of the Year".
-
It's not that easy in some cases because people often vote just for the athlete (without further explanation), and sometimes they explain the reasoning behind the vote (also citing different things, for the same athlete). But in general, based on what people said: Mixed Team: unexpected medal in Ski Jumping, the first ever for the nation in this sport. Iivo Niskanen: waited to congratulate the last-place skier. Sofia Goggia: injured, won a silver medal. Kai Verbij: sacrificed his medal chances, preventing a crash with his opponent. Brittany Bowe: gave up spot for teammate Erin Jackson, who ended up winning gold. Lindsey Jacobellis: won gold after many failed attempts.

For each category, you can rank a maximum of three nominees of your preference, following the order: #1 (20 points) #2 (10 points) #3 (5 points) You don't have to rank 3 nominees. You can rank 2 or simply pick only one (20 points) per category; You don't have to vote in all categories, only the ones you want. Votes can be edited until the deadline. Voters have until Friday, January 6th to vote. Please contact me if you have any questions.

For nominations totals, Great Britain include the nominations for England. Sport Moment of the Year doesn't count for the nations tally. I hope everyone can vote in the second stage, which will determine the winners. Soon, I will leave instructions in this thread of how to procede.
