  1. One of the Guyanese curlers was on the WCF’s Instagram today. He did a pretty series of stories that basically explained his background, how the federation was created, and the challenges the national team faces. He seems like a chill dude that the other curlers seem to get along with well. Guyana definitely has one of the best jerseys out of the all the national teams. I was a nice little watch if you’re interested (I think it will disappear in 3/4 hours). The Guyanese Curling Federation is up to 6 members (3 male/3 female). They are trying to recruit more players as well. It would be cool to see them at the Olympics one day. I think they have some quality players amongst their ranks right now, so hopefully they’re able to maintain their federation.
  2. @Vojthas I should make it clear that I’m not a fan of Disney movies. I watch highly rated ones (or terrible flops) on occasion, and that’s about it. I have been enjoying what PIXAR’s been putting out lately though. Especially the sub-studio responsible for Coco, Inside Out, and (soon to be released) Soul. They’ve been exploring more complex storylines, and pushing the boundaries of animation. You can skip up out on the EYOF and YOG. I’m probably the only member of our media organization who’s “youth and urban” enough to attend anyways.
  3. Treated myself to a little something special today, 2011 Asian Winter Games - Women’s Downhill
  4. I’ve heard some journalists have been standing in same sport for over an hour while the protest passes (No way to really verify that claim of course, but it’s big no doubt)
  5. Virtual IRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans is this weekend. It’s my favorite virtual event. Hopefully there’s some good racing and moments of excitement.
  6. So, a horrific story is unfolding in our town at the moment. A black man was found hanging from a tree in a local park this week. That’s honestly just gut-reaching without knowing the circumstances, and you can’t help but feel immediately sad for the victim and his family. I should stress that details around what happened are very much unknown so it could be anything from a suicide attempt to a purposeful lynching. Police are ruled the incident a suicide, however people were quick to point out that doing so means they can bar the media from obtaining information about the incident. That is a little weird, however understandable surrounding a normal case of suicide (which this could very well be). Because I do not know the details surrounding this incident, I’m going to keep my post at that. This is the best objective description of what’s happening in my town that I can give.
  7. I really enjoyed watching speedway during the 2017 World Games. Speedway is very popular in Poland, so the atmosphere was Olympic. I believe there was a fight between racers at some point as well, but I could be confusing it with other Speedway clips I’ve watched on YouTube.
  8. I like that @Monzanator liked this statement, even though it was clearly directed at him
  9. Talk about a hasty generalization of an argument there. I mean, if I can remember which logical fallacy it is, it most be a truly dumb statement. I’m going watch whatever films I feel like watching. That’s called human rights.
  10. Now there is something inherently wrong with enjoying that film Jk, it’s just not my cup of tea. I’m not into remakes for money.
  11. I just watch what I want to watch. This particular film was based off a book series I loved as a pre-teen. I wanted to see how Disney’s adaptation was (spoiler: It was very bad.).
  12. Can anybody explain why Spain doesn’t have HD television or live-streams (which are basically standard for all sporting events now, including those in Africa and Oceania)? There’s nothing more annoying than watching replays of the 2018 Mediterranean Games or 2019 World Roller Games, and feeling like your watching an event from 2003.
  13. Unlike Darts, it’s been in multiple international major multi-sports games It’s actually interesting that Darts haven’t made it onto the program of any of these events yet. I have no clue why that is, but it has to do with the U.K. pretty much having a monopoly on the sport.
  14. Hey, it’s a World Games sport too. It has been played at the GSSE, Mediterranean Games, African Games, SEA Games as well. Pétanque is unique because of the best countries are the likes of Madagascar and Cambodia.
  15. People hated the trailer so much that it was already at 15% before the movie came out
  16. It’s is interesting that the federation who oversees basically the world’s biggest celebration of colonization, has also been most willing to discuss humans rights issues within it’s member states. There was that big UNICEF drive during the Glasgow 2014 OC, and a emphasis on aboriginal culture throughout Gold Coast 2018 (they also gave aborigines a platform during the games). Maybe the IOC should take a few notes from the CGF’s holding of this “issue.”
  17. 2020 Razzie should absolutely go to Disney’s adaptation of Artemis Fowl. Someone read the spark notes on the book, and then wrote a summary of it, which Disney then summarized for their movie. There was also a bunch of stuff in the trailer that was completely cut from the movie. They immediately setup of one of the most complex young adult book characters as a typical Disney hero right off that bat. The plot was horrible. It just jumps around to different of the first two books in the series. The movie also has a complete run time of 1:35 (counting the 5 minutes of credits at the end). The ccting and dialogue also leaves quite a bit to be desired. They pulled poor Judi Dench into another shitshow. She needs to hire a better agent. I will say that Josh Gad’s performance was actually really good, and maybe the one highlight of the film. I would say the graphics were good, but it seems like Disney’s platform can’t even run some of them (there was weird moments where the fps dropped really low). Overall, worst movie of the year so far.
  18. That still leaves 300 short according to @call me matt account, who did the math on all the current quotas for Tokyo 2020.
  19. Plus, the 4 sports being added don’t require an insane amount of quotas. Skateboard (96), Sport Climbing (72), Surfing (40), and Breaking (32)
  20. Yep, it’s out of the Diamond League. It wasn’t in the DNA event in Minsk that Lord Coe loved to hype up. It doesn’t get a lot of focus on WA broadcasts. There’s definitely evidence there. Of course, as someone who basically specialized as a triple jumper in high school, this makes me incredibly sad. I had heard the 200m might be in danger as well. Personally, I’d prefer to get rid of the 200m since it’s literally the most pointless and least unique event on the program, but field events are second class citizens.
  21. This is clearly and biased article and headline, but it pretty much sums up U.S. foreign relations so... Oh, and I’m sure we committed multiple war crimes in Afghanistan.
