  1. Indonesia suppressing West Papua again, North Korea blowing their diplomatic office with the South, China and India fighting over a territory where the people don’t want to live in either of their countries, a shooting in a Texas mall, British tourists spreading disease on a Pacific island; I’m glad to see the world is finally returning to normal.
  2. In some very positive news, I saw that scientists have announced to a cheap steroid decrease the chance of death for those on ventilators
  3. Right, if you’re in India, you’re country holds the entire area; If you’re in China, likewise. However, everywhere else it shows it as a contested area.
  4. It also changes on google maps depending what country you’re in
  5. It’s back in New Zealand as well. I saw that there were 2 cases confirmed today.
  6. There has been a skirmish at the contested India/China border. It is known that India has suffered three causalities, and it sounds like the Chinese have suffered some as well. China has accused India of crossing the border, and attacking it’s personnel. It’s more likely that both sides were aggressors here. North Korea has also blown up its inter-Korean liaison office. It seems like North/South tensions are escalating again.
  7. Just finished watching Taking Refuge which premiered today on the Olympic Channel. The (currently) 5 part short documentary follows Niccolò Campriani as he begins a new project of attempting to train a few refugee air rifle shooters for Tokyo 2020. It’s incredibly well made, and the story is very fascinating. The pacing between the 5 episodes is really good as well. I believe they will release a few more episodes as Tokyo 2020 creeps closer once again next year. I’ve really been I impressed with the documentaries I’ve watched on the Olympic Channel. They have really perfected the art of compelling storytelling. I also released what an amazing person Niccolò Campriani is. I’ve as dismissed him as someone who’s a little stuck up, and a bit of a choke artist when it counts. However, this documentary gave him so much more dimension. He’s a really thoughtful, caring person with a big heart it seems. Now I’m kind of sad that he’s retired from shooting. He works so well as a coach with the refuge athletes though. I’ll be cheering for them big time if they can qualify, get a universality quota, or obtain an IOC special invitation. Here’s link to the documentary playlist: https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/original-series/detail/taking-refuge-target-tokyo-2020/
  8. Why’d you ask? If it’s because you wanted to see it, I might have some goodies.
  9. I fully expected the incumbent to win, but the fate of the Olympics is in the hands of the Japanese people. They will ultimately decided rather or not we will have a games next year. To be honest, it is their right to choose. Japan is in a economic depression, if not recession, and these Games are bleeding money from the national government.
  10. His is just a copy of American and other countries’s Covid-19 emergency relief fund. It doesn’t look like he’s advocating for UBI, which is becoming a more mainstream idea in some Western countries.
  11. One step in the right direction One step in the wrong direction Typical day at the Supreme Court They also decided not to hear arguments against California’s Sanctuary State Law which essentially prohibits our police departments from working with federal immigrants enforcement. This is a huge victory for the state and for the values we stand for.
  12. I could absolutely lock it to audio only. I think it would be fun to watch events with y’all.
  13. I could prevent that by locking text/audio channels when we’re not watching events as a community.
  14. I think they would be more of the main purpose if I went ahead with this. It would be more a “hangout” to chat during events/community events.
  15. I’d imagine this would be of interest to you @Griff88
  16. Myself and @Vojthas think it might be fun to have a Totallympics Discord. I think I brought this idea up a while ago, but I thought I’d develop the idea based off how we’ve used it for our media organization. So besides have a place to talk during website blackouts or worse case scenarios of a forum ending crash; there are a few purposes it would be nice for. For one, people could chat to each in a more direct manner. There can also be multiple chat rooms so people can chat with each other about different things. Now, this isn’t really all that useful since we already have Totallympics, but it would be a way for people to communicate outside the forum, or in a quicker manner during major events. One of the cool things about Discord is that it has an always running audio channel. So people can just get on and talk to each when ever they want, for as long as they want. Me and Vojthas really enjoyed this feature last night during the Virtual 24 Hrs of Le Mans. We we’re both watching the race, and it was fun to chat back and forth about it. I was 15 seconds ahead of Vojthas, but it wasn’t to big of a deal. I think it would be really fun for the community to get together and watch live events together (especially for those of us sometimes lack people to watch sports with). There can be multiple audio chat rooms as well, so their could different rooms for different events. You also have the option to share your screen on PC. Now, me and Vojthas had some issues with the stream quality when he tried to cast his footage to me, but it would work better with other people. It again opens up some cool possibilities though. We could maybe have some community movie nights of something. Overall, with all of the other features Discord has, I think it would be nice to have for the forum. We could think of it as more of a lean to, or hangout place. What do you guys think? I could set up a private server just for registered members of Totallympics. It would just be a place to hang and chat more causally. We could also post reminders about community events in there. The server could be moderated to prevent issues. It would in no way be a replacement for Totallympics though (which is good because this place is awesome).
  17. Tell me about it. I’m barely functioning today, and I think I got closer to 5 1/2 hours of sleep.
  18. DNF for Norris/Verstappen team. That’s a little bit of an upset, as Redline is one of the best esports racing teams. One of the Toyota Gazoo entries has DNF’d as well. Apparently, one team has been stuck on pit lane because they can’t wake up any of their drivers
  19. Just past 12 hours in, and it’s all about Rebellion and Porsche. Rebellion are 1, 2 in LMP2, and Porsche are 1, 2 in GTE. LMP2 field seems much more competitive than the GTE field.
  20. It’s a real conundrum because police have proven they can’t be trusted with those weapons (methods of neutralization), but we also can’t just leave our police unarmed. You ask a great question that I honestly don’t know the answer to. If you pass strong gun control, you risk a civil war. If you let the police continue as is, you risk a civil war. The U.S. is a failing country because we refused to address these problems for too long, and I don’t have confidence that either of the major presidential candidates will solve any of them. Biden might keep the status quo, but I’m not really enjoying that at the moment.
  21. From what I know, tasers in the U.S. are designed to be non-lethal. They have a limited charge and limited ammo. Of course, it is still a weapon, which is why I said this case is more defendable, albeit still an example of how our police system is broken.
  22. I can’t believe what I’m reading. They have found a second Black man hanging from a tree in a town nearby. This has once again been immediately ruled a suicide. That’s all the information that’s available now. What a horrific time for my community
  23. *A non-lethal weapon. This is a little more defendable then many of the other cases of police brutality that we’ve seen, but it still represents something inherently wrong with our police culture. Our police place too much emphasis on confrontational, violent methods ending conflict, and too little emphasis on positive problem solving techniques that would have much better outcomes for all parties.
