I’m not sure what the Dutch requirements are in figure skating, but I would assume that van Zundert’s in danger of her quota place being refused by the NOC and eventually reallocated.

Agenda 2020 allows host cities/countries to add a few sports they want to grow locally, or that are popular in the host nation. Lacrosse isn’t a bad candidate as it does have a good audience in the United States. It’s not all that popular on the West Coast though (it’s more of an East Coast thing). Personally, I’d like to see Skateboard, Surfing, Sport Climbing, and Flying Disc (Team Ultimate) added to the program under that clause. I know there’s been movements to add Lacrosse, Cricket, Baseball/Softball, and Cheerleading (among other sports) as well.

At base level, I find that idea intriguing. Say the format was as follows: 3 fencers per team, one from each weapon. Epee then goes against Epee, Sabre against Sabre, and Foil against foil (doesn’t have to be that order). The scoring/format would be the same as the current team event. You could have 16 entries in this team event (or event 24, 32), and then have more countries in the individual events. However, each country is then restricted to 1 fencer per event, and I’d imagine that’d be a no-go for most fans/athletes.

Henry Sildaru wins the Junior World Championship in Halfpipe. Pretty sure his dad is there coaching him still, which considering the allegations against him, one has to wonder if he should be allowed to coach, let alone be at a youth event at the moment.

Yep, South Korea has been supporting some smaller/new programs. I know the Nigerians have been at the track training new drivers and brakeman as well.
