  1. Too bad, I like them as much as I like ice hockey jerseys in general (which is not very much, but at least I like the design) Now I'm curious which ones they should have in your opinion.
  2. Just had a first view of the jump in the cross-country cross course....the two Brazilian girls were trying it....and both crashed pretty much simultaneously Luckily they managed to get up laughing about it, could have ended up worse: one of the ski's of the second faller nearly hit the first one straight in her face, but all's well that ends well
  3. At least they managed to get bronze and I managed to get points for the easiest prediction contest question ever
  4. Karnaukhov/Chirva were on a tear in their second run, but that ain't gonna be enough for their expected gold..
  5. Russians must have made a huge mistake, they went from leading at the last intermediate (but already down on speed) to being almost a second behind This competition is more interesting than it promised to be
  6. Rinks/Liepins were way faster in the bottom part and cut their deficit in half in the second half of the track! The Russians should just make no mistake and they should take the lead by some margin..
  7. I don't know, but I feel like the 1st run time of the German luge doubles might not be enough to hold off the Russian favourites...they only won a little bit of time on the Polish guys in the bottom.
  8. Luge live timing sucks monkeyballs in terms of making it easy to follow how someone is doing (for example, no time differences with the current leader are shown), but fine. At least it's something.
  9. Merle Fräbel topping the luge after run one, much to nobody's surprise Diana Loginova and Jessica Degenhardt are battling for silver, girls behind them need to hope for huge mistakes.
  10. By the way, this is all meant as constructive feedback, not as negative criticism or something, just to be clear.
  11. You can save time and come across as more informed/into the sport by only mentioning the differences. The actual times only matter in sports like speed skating, swimming, athletics and so on, in biathlon, cross-country skiing, road cycling and whatnot they are useless In by now thousands of articles, I don't think I've mentioned them even once in sports where they are meaningless
  12. They often have a weird mix of being really in-depth (with stuff like the interviews) and also having a general vibe of not really following a sport or knowing much about it (like even mentioning the points in the mass starts) I missed it, but are they the kind of people who say "Skier X won the slalom with a combined time of 1:20.65"? Dutch media often does that, even though the actual times in alpine skiing just are a complete waste of effort to mention, only the differences between athletes matter....
  13. Oh wait, I thought you were writing the articles
  14. Another small bit of feedback: It didn't Winning the final sprint earned him the gold medal. The points in mass start have quite literally no meaning at least in terms of the podium positions. It's about the positions in which they cross the finish line - one can win every single intermediate sprint, it's not enough to beat someone who wins the final sprint. I don't think I've ever seen any media report even mention the number of points of the winner and podium finishers, because it just really doesn't matter
  15. This makes the whole thing even more confusing. I mean, people can confure Slovenia/Slovakia, but even if they did, that has nothing to do with one stage being cancelled....of which I can't find anything
  16. Wait what? Brezno gets three consecutive weeks? And why?
  17. Here's the interview by the way, if you want to use Google Translate. https://frontpage.fok.nl/nieuws/767062/1/1/50/tt-coureur-jochem-van-den-hoek-overleden.html https://frontpage.fok.nl/nieuws/767168/1/1/50/deel-twee-interview-overleden-jochem-van-den-hoek.html
  18. Because they want it. Literally the only opinion that matters is that of the people actually involved in it and they want nothing more than racing, in this case, the Dakar or the Isle of Man TT and similar road races. It's their life, that's what they're breathing, it's what gives their life meaning in their eyes and that's what they're living for. They all know the risks, every single one of them, and every single one of them accepts it. On our Dutch sports website we had an interview with a Dutch racer in the Isle of Man TT in 2017: readers could ask him questions and he would answer them all - he was the boyfriend of one of our editors, hence the easy connection. Part one of his answers had been posted on the morning of one of the races. On the forum we were all following the live timing until at some point he didn't come through one of the checkpoints. News broke pretty soon he had had a crash, but reports were not clear. "He's ok, but his bike is destroyed" to "It's not looking good", all we knew for (pretty) sure was he crashed. Not much later I got a PM from the editor saying she had heard he had passed away, and later that afternoon it was announced on the local radio. In some sort of weird coincidence, the first question he answered in the part that had been published on what turned out to be the day of his death was "First of: which colour coffin would you like to order?", with his answer being "Gold of course! #winning" His answer to a question about whether or not he thought about the danger tells a lot. "Of course when you're lying in bed at night, you think about it a little. After all, it's a dangerous track and stuff happens. On the other hand, the big risk is exactly what makes racing right here so awesome and so special...if you can't deal with that, fine, but go do something else. I'm doing this because there's nothing better in the world than racing right here. I'm living my dream and for me, nothing in the world is worth more than that." And about preparation, some advice for people who want to do this: "Do your homework! The very last thing you want is to be riding your first lap here, only to realize you didn't study hard enough." All in all, that says enough I think: the riders want it. They are batshit crazy and they know and love it.
  19. [hide] #51 Will Slovakia score more goals than Czech Republic on the first day of the women's Ice Hockey 6-teams Tournament? [No] #52 Will there be a nation with more than two medals in Luge on Day 8? [Yes] #53 What will be the time difference between 3rd and 4th place in Luge men's Doubles? (step - 0,01s) [0,400 seconds] #54 How many goals will be scored in the second periods of the Ice Hockey matches on Day 8? (step - 1) [8] #55 Which nation will score the most goals on the first day of women's Ice Hockey 6-teams Tournament? [Sweden] [/hide]
  20. Really, 'destroying completely'? Pictures are a bit smaller now and so it's totally destroyed? That sounds like a bit of an overreaction, come on.
  21. Bike rider Edwin Straver of the Netherlands had a bad fall today. Not a fast one, but he came down in pretty much the worst position and had no heart beat for 10 minutes or so... He has been transported to a hospital in of course critical condition and has broken one of the vertebrae in his neck, so if he survives, the question is how badly he's injured or paralyzed..
