  1. Ferguson either doesn't seem to get basic tactics (obviously the French in her wheel isn't going to help her chase down another French) or doesn't know there's someone ahead of them
  2. They've entered the last lap and Glasgow's summer has started, it is absolutely pouring down (meaning a group has even less of an advantage over a lone rider) Julie Bego of France with a very serious attack for a few kilometers already, she's looking strong.
  3. Damn I would take any non-lethal rainy day over that
  4. Japan definitely looks like the highest quality team of all here. Their goals are fabricated nicely, with good and efficient attacks, whereas many of the other goals are somewhat coincidental, lucky, silly, etc. So far I'd say they are the favourite, besides England I guess?
  5. Spain with a classic schoolyard goal* for 4-1 *ball lands in a group of players, everyone tries to kick towards it and coincidentally the one that hits it kicks it roughly towards the goal
  6. Forgive me if I'm wrong and getting people confused, but wasn't he the one who years ago basically wanted to hold up his hand for billions and billions of EU euros without serious conditions (but then eventually of course needed to accept some serious conditions and get his own country's finances somewhat in order)? I know the whole thing was super complicated, so again: never mind if I'm wrong, also since there isn't really a short explanation of the whole thing available online from what I saw in a quick search
  7. Wait, the only way to qualify for the Olympics is through the Nations League and reaching the final there? Hadn't noticed how tiny the Olympic event actually is...
  8. UEFA teams got more than 60% of the total possible amount of points, it's not like UEFA teams could have gotten 12 (teams) x 3 (matches) x 3 (points) = 108 points in total with matches like Sweden - Italy or Netherlands - Portugal Not a big deal of course and still a nice comparison, just thought it'd be worth a mention.
  9. And that's it, Germany is out as well. What a performance by Morocco to put themselves in this position, but they can thank Colombia and Korea as well for keeping Germany to a grand total of 1 point in those two matches
  10. South Korea goes 1-0 up against Germany, which was then (virtually speaking) out of the tournament, but has now equalized after Popp was being defended rather....unfortunate by the Korean defenders.
  11. Right, Tanfield is up on his feet. That was scary for a bit there.
  12. Oh wow, massive crash for the third Brit coming out of the last corner (seems to have been Tanfield), who is not looking good...
  13. That would be a major first, since it is absolutely far from the first time African/Eritrean athletes have been denied entry to the UK for whichever sports event... Either denied or incredibly delayed.
  14. Right, some updates: Girmay is reported to have a visa, but won't race because of an injury of last week's Donostia Klasikoa. Berhane has a visa and will race Sunday. Tesfatsion has a visa, but will not race due to a knee injury. Mulubrhan's situation is not yet clear.
  15. Yeah, to the surprise of absolutely nobody....sadly. It is always the same with big events in the UK. Every. Single. Time. In 2025, Rwanda really should deny all British riders entry. Sucks for the riders, but that's too bad, the Brits are keeping a load of Africans out of big events time and time again. Mind you, these are not 'potential refugees' (whatever that would be), but most are well-established pro riders, especially Girmay or Kudus. And as always, UCI does nothing about it. They are as incompetent as one can be in these cases, which of course is already shown by the mere fact the UK got this event in the first place (meaning everybody knew people like the Eritreans were fucked).
  16. Coup number how many is that in that part of the world this year? This will be a bit of a big deal in international news for a little bit and then we go on ignoring Niger (which most non-African people have probably never even heard of, unfortunately), until the next coup in *insertrandomcountryinthesamearea*.... No way it's the last coup (attempt) in the region even this year
  17. Just saw the highlights, but Italy wtf Extremely silly and hapless defending at the 3-2, after already missing a near open goal opportunity themselves....not to mention that beautiful goal by Orsi, although unfortunately in her own goal....damn, they gave it away, but South Africa does seem to be a fun team
  18. A normal thing in sports as far as I know. For example every.... year (?) or so I hear Bruna about how she needs to fill in some document for the national federation to renew her FIS license. Standard procedure really, unless there are some major issues at the federation level....as seems to be the case in Iran's gymnastics federation, judging by what you wrote. With of course the athletes ending up the victims of that, as per usual when federations (or whoever at that kind of organizational level) mess stuff up
  19. Also, mixed feelings. On one hand I had hoped for a good result for Brazil, especially for Bruna and her being annoyed with the thousands of morons on Brazilian social media talking shit about the women's team and how only the men's team matters (you know, those guys like Neymar who spend more time acting than playing and get paid millions and millions), but on the other hand, surprises and stuff like that are what make sports great and so Jamaica qualifying is absolutely amazing
  20. To be fair, Marta is 37, it's not weird to simply not be at the top of the game anymore
  21. From what I'm seeing, women's football is still very much in it's early stages of developing a good quality level (I'm sure it's improving), with a lot of very silly mistakes and even in this World Cup already many super coincidental goals where someone basically just bumped into the ball by accident and it resulted in a goal. However, the lack of quality means there's often a lot more chances, whereas in the men's game many teams have such a tight defense that often you're looking at football for 90 minutes and end up seeing like 2 chances and 1 goal and that's it So the disadvantage of women's football is also an advantage
