  1. Brazil with a perfect chance early on, but unfortunately for them Marta is playing and so there was the first "Either I will be the hero, or nobody will be" moment, resulting in her going for a (failed) attempt to shoot the ball through three defenders instead of giving it to her teammate who was absolutely free 5 meters from the goal
  2. And dear lord they were close to kicking USA out....
  3. Since when does one get disqualified for 1 missed test? That suggests there have been other missed tests?
  4. How did Vietnam qualify? I mean, cool for them that they did, but at least today they seem to be barely able to kick the ball (I'm sure they can do better than this, but I didn't have time to watch their other two matches)
  5. And the 4x50m medley of course, otherwise it'd be unfair to the sprint strokes.
  6. Plus obviously the 4x200m medley relays, men, women and mixed.
  7. Yet....surely swimming will at some point finally get the extra medal event they so desperately need?
  8. And 49.27 for Grousset on the fly leg, rather quick as well. Edit: as Topicmaster noticed already, sorry
  9. That's understandable though, with Jacobs being the stereotypical testosteron bomb one sees in sprinting, and Tamberi being a totally different but way more relaxed/nice/friendly/easy to support looking kind of person Anyhow, let's see how it goes next year
  10. @Werloc You said Meilutyte had been in a depression and such, is there also something known about drug (ab)use and the likes? I don't mean in a doping sense, but 'recreational', so to say. Femke Heemskerk mentioned that on TV, but I couldn't find anything about it
  11. If Italy had a good freestyle leg, Ceccon could have been even slower and they'd still have made it. In the end, the whole performance just wasn't good (including Ceccon), as is usually the case with these things Of course the attitude is somewhat annoying, although it is logical that for him the things that count more than anything are individual medals (as is often the case, individual champions are remembered a lot better than someone who was a member of a medal winning team).
  12. Nice performance for her at these Nikon Swimming In Myrtha Pools World Championships by Yakult made possible by Omega Timing.
  13. Hmm, not entirely. First of all, it's never really one's person's achievement who messes up the race, and second: Miressi could have gone quite a lot faster than Frigo, based on his performances the whole week, enough to make the top-8. Not to say Ceccon was great, because he wasn't, but it's not like the failure to qualify was entirely on him
  14. How did he talk? And to be fair: the main thing for him should be to focus on his own medal chances. Great if that improves something for the team, but if I were him, I wouldn't put focus on team events if that costs anything individually for his best events...
  15. You think it'd be fun to read the comments, until you see that an U12 (!) match makes a whole bunch of American nationalists get super serious about their country being the 'oldest and greatest in the world' and anyone who says that might not be entirely true is deemed a total idiot
  16. Or in the winter: ski jumping (and therefore Nordic combined) and the sliding sports. God I love them, but my lord are they expensive to have a massive venue for a super niche event 99% of the world knows absolutely nothing about
  17. I see field hockey as a serious, tense and entertaining sport and ice hockey as a fun entertaining bit of yuesay show. Definitely entertaining, but with much more the feel of a show Which isn't necessarily bad of course, just different.
  18. Is that true though? Pro boxing, the big heavyweight fights and such, has quite a following for example in the Netherlands (not huge, but a good amount of people watch the heavyweight title fight if it's being shown), whereas basically nobody would watch the non-professional form of boxing. Maybe for a few minutes if there's a match with a Dutch fighter, but that's about it. Feels the same as kickboxing or something: I very much enjoy the big pro kickboxing fights, but for example the lame versions at the recent European Games....I noped out of that after a few fights in which absolutely nothing happened.
  19. You're definitely my favourite Slovak ever buddy, but you misspelled 'ice' and wrote it as 'field' again!
  20. 5 teams per gender....and that's all then? So I would assume it would feature as a sort of demonstration sport and not an official medal event? Seems rather too tiny for that with a field of a grand total of five
  21. So she lost a spot, since she was the #2 performer all-time before this final
