in the last weekend, the Karate 1 Serie A tournament in Santiago (CHI) was on stage... despite it came just a week after the Premier League stage in Berlin, since also in this case there were points for the Olympic Ranking up for grab, some "big names" were at the start in the Chilean Capital... among them: Sandra Sanchez Jaime (winner of the women's Kata), Serap Ozcelik (winner of the women's Kumite -50kg), Anzhelika Terliuga (winner of the women's Kumite -55kg, the most qualified class, with Tuba Yakan finishing 2nd and Valeria Kumizaki finishing 3rd), Leila Hertault (winner of the women's Kumite -61kg), Meltem Hocaoglu (winner of the women's Kumite +68kg), Damian Quintero (only 3rd in the men's Kata), Almasatfa Abdel Rahman and Vinicius Figueira (winner and runner-up in the men's Kumite -67kg), Ugur Aktas (winner of the men's Kumite -84kg) and Jonathan Horne (only 2nd in the men's Kumite +84kg)... here are the Full Results of the Santiago tournament... https://www.wkf.net/imagenes/karate1/-resultados-karate-1-series-a-santiago-2018-september-21-23-001.pdf

so, this is a quick recap of today's early action... women's -70kg semifinals Maria Perez vs Chizuru Arai Marie Eve Gahie vs Assmaa Niang repechage Kelita Zupancic vs Yuri Alvear (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Gahie / Niang) Sally Conway vs Yoko Ono (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Perez / Arai) men's -90kg semifinals Ivan Felipe Silva Morales vs Axel Clerget Krisztian Toth vs Nikoloz Sherazadishvili repechage Kenta Nagasawa vs Komronshokh Ustopiriyon (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Toth / Sherazadishvili) Eduard Trippel vs Asley Gonzalez (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Silva Morales / Clerget)

and last but not least, Axel Clerget is the 4th man in the -90kg class semifinals, as he beat the Tajik Ustopiriyon in the pool B final... in the top half of the draw semifinal match he's going to face the Cuban Silva Morales...

women's -70kg semifinal match in the bottom half of the draw will be Marie Eve Gahie vs Asmaa Niang, who upset the Japanese Yoko Ono (no, she's not John Lennon's wife) in the quarterfinals...

and no double for Cuba, as Nikoloz Sherazadishvili beat Asley Gonzalez and wins the men's -90kg pool D, thus setting up a semifinal match between himself and Krisztian Toth in the bottom half of the draw of this class...

and men's -90kg pool A goes to Ivan Silva Morales, who just defeated Kenta Nagasawa by 3rd shido after 3:36 minutes in the Golden Score period...

Krisztian Toth wins the men's -90kg pool C by beating Eduard Trippel (GER) and he's through to the semifinals...

Maria Perez beat Kelita Zupancic (CAN) and she's also through to the semifinals of the women's -70kg... so, the semifinal match of the top half of the draw in this class will be between Maria Perez and Chizuru Arai...

Axel Clerget vs Komronshokh Ustopiriyon is the men's 90kg pool C final...

and also Slovakia's dream is over...after Randl, Zilka lost in 4th round and won't play a part in the -90kg class anymore...

Chizuru Arai beat Alvear (COL) and she's the 1st woman that made it through to semifinals in the -70kg class...

however, Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (who beat the Slovenian born Turkish newly acquired Mikail Ozerler, formerly known as Zgank) vs Asley Gonzalez is the pool D final in the men's -90kg class...

and no quarters for the last Italian, too, as Mungai wasted an enormous chance and lost to Gonzalez a match that he should have won 100 times before the golden score (when he was obviously outplayed by the Cuban)...

and Eduard Trippel vs Krisztian Toth is the pool C final in the men's -90kg...

Ivan Silva Morales vs Kenta Nagasawa (who just defeated Ushangi Margiani in one of the best matches of the entire world champs ruined by an idiot of a ref) is the pool A final in the men's -90kg class...

and yesss!!! I won the derby well, Mungai beat Randl, tbh... now things get hot...he's gonna face Asley Gonzalez for a place in the quarterfinals...

and Slovakia incredibly have 2 guys in the 3rd round of the men's -90kg class... together with Randl, in fact, also Peter Zilka reached that stage of the competition, where he has to face Ustopiriyon for a place in the quarterfinals...

Yuri Alvear vs Chizuru Arai is the pool B final in the women's -70kg classs...

Maria Perez vs Kelita Zupancic is the final of women's -70kg pool A (first quarterfinal of the day, if you prefer)...

and for the joy of @heywoodu, Alvear still managed to beat Van Dijke...

by the way, back to Judo... and in a few minutes, there's an interesting derby between me and my friend @hckosice, since Nicholas Mungai and Milan Randl will face each other in the 3rd round of the -90kg class...

was he married with an Italian woman? that's another way of becoming Italian almost immediately... since I don't know what the documents say, I just can't judge...but there are more ways to get our citizenship "regularly"...so, I guess he took advantage of one of those methods...
