  1. and also Slovakia's dream is over...after Randl, Zilka lost in 4th round and won't play a part in the -90kg class anymore...
  2. Chizuru Arai beat Alvear (COL) and she's the 1st woman that made it through to semifinals in the -70kg class...
  3. however, Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (who beat the Slovenian born Turkish newly acquired Mikail Ozerler, formerly known as Zgank) vs Asley Gonzalez is the pool D final in the men's -90kg class...
  4. and no quarters for the last Italian, too, as Mungai wasted an enormous chance and lost to Gonzalez a match that he should have won 100 times before the golden score (when he was obviously outplayed by the Cuban)...
  5. and Eduard Trippel vs Krisztian Toth is the pool C final in the men's -90kg...
  6. Ivan Silva Morales vs Kenta Nagasawa (who just defeated Ushangi Margiani in one of the best matches of the entire world champs ruined by an idiot of a ref) is the pool A final in the men's -90kg class...
  7. and yesss!!! I won the derby well, Mungai beat Randl, tbh... now things get hot...he's gonna face Asley Gonzalez for a place in the quarterfinals...
  8. and Slovakia incredibly have 2 guys in the 3rd round of the men's -90kg class... together with Randl, in fact, also Peter Zilka reached that stage of the competition, where he has to face Ustopiriyon for a place in the quarterfinals...
  9. Yuri Alvear vs Chizuru Arai is the pool B final in the women's -70kg classs...
  10. Maria Perez vs Kelita Zupancic is the final of women's -70kg pool A (first quarterfinal of the day, if you prefer)...
  11. and for the joy of @heywoodu, Alvear still managed to beat Van Dijke...
  12. by the way, back to Judo... and in a few minutes, there's an interesting derby between me and my friend @hckosice, since Nicholas Mungai and Milan Randl will face each other in the 3rd round of the -90kg class...
  13. yeah, I just read your previous post... p.s. I guess we've gone quite a bit off topic...
  14. was he married with an Italian woman? that's another way of becoming Italian almost immediately... since I don't know what the documents say, I just can't judge...but there are more ways to get our citizenship "regularly"...so, I guess he took advantage of one of those methods...
  15. well, now he has it... the rule for a non EU citizen is 10 years of continuous residence (at least 6 months + 1 day/year)...once you reach that stage, then you can ask (and you're entitle to have) an Italian passport... p.s. probably he was said that if he opted for our NT our federation could have him get his Italian passport earlier than the normal rule by asking it for "special merits", which is always an option (but it's also a direct decision of our President of the Republic, who normally doesn't give it so easily)... I think it would have ended up in nothing in any case...
  16. no, in that case he wasn't entitled to have our citizenship, so he was considered a non-European Union player (as SRB isn't part of the EU)... and our clubs have some restrictions for non-EU players...so, Pro Recco decided he was the one to let go as they coudn't keep all of their non-EU players they had in their roster at the specific moment... as I explained in the past, things for club sports are quite different (and somehow more obscure)... with those EU-rule, it's obvious that most clubs from EU-Nations try everything possible (and offten also the impossible) to make non-EU players get an European passport... but this is just a distortion of the question and goes well beyond the right of playing for a NT or another...
  17. Alvear is no longer the "monster" she used to be...she's stil very good, of course, but imho Van Dijke has some chances... both Van't End and Trippel are to be considered outsiders...so, the winner can say he's got a good day...
  18. obviously...but I was speaking of those people who want to take advantage of their Italian heritage for some reason (here we talk about sport, but there are also different motivations)... if someone (the majority of people, I guess) doesn't care about this thing (or, even worse, are ashamed/annoyed by their origin), there's not even need to talk about that... p.s. here in Italy this theme is considered quite important by the majority of people and there's harsh and everlasting debate about giving up our citizenship by "iure solis" (which is not the case at the moment) and/or by "iure sanguinis" (which is the current working rule -and apart from the other rules like marriage or long terms residence or "special merits", which are not part of the debate)...
  19. Bodegas I think established himself in Italy well before getting our citizenship... Molina is surely "one of those cases" (but you can't say we bought him like Gulf Countries usually do...we never made him an offer that involved money, other benefits nor social status in exchage of his participation to our NT) Volarevic...well, I don't know his personal history, so I just can't say anything about him... and yes, it's fair to say that in some circumstance our foreign-born players have made their choices based on their sport and/or economical convenience (and I don't see anything wrong with that until it's a man's choice and not a Country's policy of searching, convincing and enrolling people who don't have anything to do with that same Nation...there's a big difference in those 2 situations)...
  20. I just found out that Croatia hosted the Junior Worlds in 2014 and they didn't win any medal (but they got a 5th place in Greco-Roman Wrestling...so they got closer than SVK this time round)...
  21. I just tried to guess...and of course I was wrong... Thanks for the right versions...I'm gonna fix it immediately...

  24. yeah, actually I didn't even think about them... in any case, you're explained what the situation is...North and South Americans have Italian blood, so to me they are entitled to be named "Italians" a lot more than those 2nd/3rd generation immigrants, who often don't have anything to share with our culture and traditions (I know this opinion is not well considered here, but that's the pure truth...and most Italian people think the same, even if many don't want to say it publicly because of this plague of "politically correct")...
