  1. so, just another day at the office for Russia (3 Gold & 1 Silver for them), good 4 medals (but no gold) for the USA and a surprising gold for Japan, not because it's Japan, but because it came in a weight class where they're supposed not to be so good... and more than anything, as a neutral fan, I really appreciated that we had 3 great final matches (65, 70 and 79 kg classes)...
  2. Day #6 (Freestyle) Medallists -57kg Gold: Akhmed Idrisov Silver: Naveen Naveen Bronze: Daton Duain Fix & Arsen Harutyunyan -65kg Gold: Saiyn Kazyryk Silver: Amir Maghsoudi Bronze: Nicolai Grahmez & Erik Arushanian -70kg Gold: Khadzhimurad Ghadziyev Silver: Razambek Zhamalov Bronze: Brady Gary Berge & Vasile Diacon -79kg Gold: Hayato Ishiguro Silver: Aaron Marquel Brooks Bronze: Orkhan Abasov & Adlan Bataiev -97kg Gold: Magomedkhan Magomedov Silver: Zachery Samuel Elam Bronze: Zuriko Urtashvili & Seryk Bakytkhanov
  3. wow! what a great final in the -65kg class, with so many lead changes... unfortunately for our friend @MHSN the Russian Kazyryk won the gold medal thanks to a takedown with just 8 or 9 seconds to go... Maghsoudi must be satisfied with Silver, meanwhile MDA and UKR took Bronze...
  4. and unfortunately MKD missed the chance to win the Bronze medal...the guy from MDA was just too strong for him (he won by superiority, 15-5)...
  5. first gold of the day to Russia, in the final of the -57kg class, Idrisov just destroyed Naveen (IND) by a score of 12-1... USA and ARM got bronze in this weight...

  7. women's -57kg Gold: Tsukasa Yoshida Silver: Nekoda Smythe-Davis Bronze: Christa Deguchi & Sumiya Dorjsuren men's -73kg Gold: An Chang Rim Silver: Soichi Hashimoto Bronze: Mohammad Mohammadi & Hidayat Heydarov
  8. Super Six Day #5 Result Czech Republic b. Netherlands 1-0 Round Robin Final Rankings Czech Republic, 5W - 0L Italy, 4W - 1L Netherlands, 3W - 2L Great Britain, 2W - 3L Russia, 1W-4L Greece, 0W - 5L Finals Schedule 5th/6th Place Match: Russia vs Greece (right now, game started @ 1.00 p.m. CET) Bronze Medal Match: Netherlands vs Great Britain (later Today, @ 3.30 p.m. CET) Gold Medal Match: Czech Republic vs Italy (later Today, @ 6 p.m. CET)
  9. Super Six Day #5 Results Italy b. Spain 8-5 Germany b. Czech Republic 5-4 Netherlands vs Spain 12-10 Netherlands vs Belgium Game cancelled (bad weather) Final Standings Netherlands, 4W - 0L Italy, 4W - 1L Spain, 3W - 2L Belgium, 1W - 3L Germany, 1W - 4L Czech Republic, 1W - 4L Italy should be safe in the Final Match (scheduled for Tomorrow @ 1.30 p.m. CET), meanwhile Netherlands vs Spain should allow only the winning team to reach 1 of the first 2 spots in the Round Robin standings (and therefore to make it through to the Final match)... but maybe there's still a mathematical chance for the Netherlands to be within the top 2 teams of the RR also by losing with a very slim margin (I've not done all the required calculations, yet)...
  10. wow! among the girls we have a domination by the WSL (more or less) regulars...among those on the podium, only the girl from NZL is not a WSL regular... and the name of Fitzgibbons makes this event really a big one...
  11. Now he's in the Bronze Medal match (against the Moldovan guy)...
  12. quick recap... women's -57kg semifinals Sumiya Dorjsuren vs Nekoda Smythe-Davis Tsukasa Yoshida vs Christa Deguchi repechage Helene Receveaux vs Theresa Stoll (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Yoshida / Deguchi) Kwon You Jeong vs Nora Gjakova (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Dorjsuren / Smythe-Davis) men's -73kg semifinals Hidayat Heydarov vs Soichi Hashimoto An Chang Rim vs Mohammad Mohammadi repechage Zhansay Smagulov vs Odbayar Ganbaatar (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of An / Mohammadi) Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir vs Lasha Shavdatuashvili (winner to the Bronze Medal match vs loser of Heydarov / Hashimoto)
  13. wow! and Mohammad Mohammadi wins pool D with a great ippon against Lasha Shavdatuashvili... so, the men's -73kg semifinal in the bottom half of the draw is An Chang Rim vs Mohammad Mohammadi
  14. the usual Azeri robbery... Hidayat Heydarov wins pool B in the men's -73kg against Odbayar Ganbaatar, but he should have been disqualified fro intentional dropping (fake attack) in the last second of the match... but we are in Baku...and you know... in the emantime, An Chag Rim wins the pool C (the final was against Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir) and is going to face in the semifinal the winner of IRI vs GEO... so, Mongolia will have 2 guys in the repechage round and nobody in the semis...
  15. men's -73kg, pool D final: vs
  16. and it's Christa Deguchi to win the pool D and making it through to the semifinals (against Yoshida)...
  17. and Tsukasa Yoshida wins the pool C in the women's -57kg by beating by ippon Kwon You Jeong...in the semifinal she's going to face the winner of Nora Gjakova vs Christa Deguchi (playing right now)...
  18. men's -73kg, pool C final: vs and our Iranian friend Mohammadi is also in the pool D final (he'll know his opponent in a few minutes)...
  19. yeah, we've been lucky we just avoided one of those very unpleasant moments...
  20. men's -73kg, pool B final: vs
  21. women's -57kg pool finals pool C: vs pool D: vs
  22. not yet, he's in the repechage bracket, but he still has to win one more bout (against the winner of SVK vs MGL) before he actually makes the Medal match...
  23. he just lost his mind... now he's leaving the Army sports group and next Monday he's scheduled to enter the house of VIP Big Brother (the reason why he's leaving the Army SG, since they didn't give him permission to go to BB)... we can easily rank his Olympic Gold as a "one-hit wonder"...and quickly forget about him... and I repeat this concept for the million time...until we don't fire Murakami as the head coach of our NT, we won't get anything anymore...he can be the most qualified master in the world, but he's just not good for Italy...
