  1. With all due respect to the discus finalists here, this is probably how the U12 championships played out back in the day of 74 m throws.
  2. Will Kennedy conveniently bomb oit for a shared gold at 4.45? Barshim-Tamberi is an ugly, ugly precedent.
  3. Welp, that was a weak PV final. Silver and bronze medalists bomb out at 4.50.
  4. Both Canada and the USA have announced their teams today. World Championships allow teams of 4 + 1 other individual. The individual rider for both nations is still TBD, as it will be the case with most selections. Canada Hawley Bennett-Awad and Jollybo – eighteen-year-old British-bred Sport Horse mare (Jumbo x Polly Coldunnell, by Danzig Connection), owned by the Jolly Syndicate LLC and the rider. Holly Jacks-Smither and Candy King – twelve-year-old British-bred Sport Horse gelding (Grafenstolz x Eye Candy, by Moothyeb), owned by the Candy King Eventing Limited Partnership. Colleen Loach and Vermont – ten-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Van Helsing x Hauptstutbuch Hollywood, by Heraldik), owned by Peter Barry. Karl Slezak and Fernhill Wishes – thirteen-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (Chacoa x KEC Galway Bay, by Gildawn Diamond), owned by Kirk Hoppner and the rider. Mike Winter and El Mundo – thirteen-year-old KWPN gelding (Numero Uno x Calvaro’s Bria Z, by Calvaro F.C.), owned by Jonathan Nelson, Emma Winter and the rider. United States Will Coleman (Gordonsville, Va.) and Off The Record, a 2009 Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by the Off The Record Syndicate Ariel Grald (Southern Pines, N.C.) and Leamore Master Plan, a 2009 Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by Anne Eldridge Boyd Martin (Cochranville, Pa.) and Tsetserleg TSF, a 2007 Trakehner gelding owned by Christine, Thomas, and Tommie Turner Lauren Nicholson (The Plains, Va.) and Vermiculus, a 2007 Anglo-Arabian gelding owned by Jacqueline Mars Tamie Smith (Murrieta, Calif.) and Mai Baum, a 2006 German Sport Horse gelding owned by Alexandra Ahearn, Ellen Ahearn, and Eric Markell
  5. I just can't stop assuming that all these squash players must be some corporate attorneys off the court.
  6. Pratoni will simultaneously host the World Championships in driving.
  7. There is a change as Lyndal Oatley will ride Eros instead of Elvive this week in Herning. This weakens the Australian team, but only ever so slightly. In other news, Brazilian team is out as Pedro Almeida's horse caught travel sickness. Already much improved, but their decision to WD stands. The vice of having no reserves. While it's sad that there will be no Brazilian team, this competition holds little significance for them in terms of Paris qualification.
  8. "Nakaayi... Used her elbows to great effect in Doha." Damn. Right below the belt.
  9. runner DNS'd, and yet we were just shown his reaction time. We have entered the twilight zone.
  10. Well, I was cheering for Wales here... Until their skip chased away a photographer from the venue, becauss you know, the photographer existed. Absolutely insane that athletes here are seemingly allowed to remove people from the audience just because they feel like it. And audience not booing this childlish behaviour probably suggests that this happens all too often.
  11. Another gold for NZ out of nowhere.
  12. Ghana was leading up to the very last second... When they decided to tackle the Canadian player with a stick and allow them a penalty kick. You just can't make this stuff up. Pathetic.
  13. Loved the drama in the men's triples finals. Australia somehow went from being 1-12 down to leveling it up 12-12.
  14. One wonders how this ever got invented. We are talking about kayak racing in a narrow canal. Of course it is going to be physically difficult to move one kayak in front of another.
  15. Just for a comedy relief... Canada bags another 4th place, this time in para-swimming.
  16. Last time I watched this overtaking on course was next to impossible. Everything remained intact after the start. I gather it's still the case?
  17. Watching Vanuatu dismantle Scotland in beach volleyball is a great palate cleanser.
  18. cyclist crashed before the start of scratch. His two-cent racing kit has disintegrated I'm afraid.
  19. Justina Vanagaite would respectably disagree. You might wanna check her out. Pretty good chance Lithuania makes their debut in equestrian. And if you-know-who is not allowed back for the qualification process, then 1-4 athletes are possible (between Vanagaite, Sysojeva, Katinaite-Pranckeviciene in dressage and Vitkauskas in eventing).
  20. Against Canada? I think they are just pro-Britain (surprise surprise).
  21. That was a very exciting battle in weightlifting... For silver and bronze, that is.
